What is Your definition of washed out wake ?

My definition is a wake that is rolling over and has white water on the part of the wake that Your going to hit. A few pics as examples would be great.

krbaugh 09-09-2004 5:32 PM

and please post pictures that show both sides
of the wake in the same picture.

stanfield 09-09-2004 5:33 PM

I would agree with your definition though low quality pics on the internet can be deceiving. Hard to judge distance, depth, and all that crap. Here is a pic of my wake. Obviously it's a bit washed on the side that the rider was not cutting into, but it's always clean and crisp. 92 MC prostar 205 w/ 2k lbs that's getting traded in tomorrow.

walt 09-09-2004 5:36 PM

This is the only one I have with both sides. The rider is at 75ft and it's clean on both sides but starts to wash out around 90ft or so.

walt 09-09-2004 5:38 PM

Kevin, You can also see the prop wash in this pic

walt 09-09-2004 5:40 PM

Here is another pic of My wake but You can only see one side of it

walt 09-09-2004 5:46 PM

Kevin, Do You have any pics of Your Centurion wake ?

krbaugh 09-09-2004 5:47 PM

Walt

your wake is clean on both sides
and stays clean even with a cut
the wake above is very washed out on the right.

As you know I disgree with you that this wake is washed out

krbaugh 09-09-2004 5:47 PM

No can't say I do but it lloks just like the picture I just posted

walt 09-09-2004 5:49 PM

Maybe it would clean up with more speed ?

dakid 09-09-2004 5:58 PM

imo, the wake in the last pic is washed out on the rider's side.

krbaugh 09-09-2004 6:22 PM

I would agree that the boat could use more weight on the passenger side but it is not close to washed out like the picture that Stanfield posted.
I think a small shift in weight would fix the very small amount of wash you must be talking about on the right. You can also see that the wake is more rampy on the left.

solo 09-09-2004 6:58 PM

Umali,

Name that wake?????

dakid 09-09-2004 7:00 PM

uh, like that's possible.

zoom out and catch the boat next time...then i'll name the wake.

(Message edited by dakid on September 09, 2004)

You guys do understand that most wakes wash out on the side that you're not making an aggressive cut into right?

dakid 09-09-2004 7:03 PM

walt 09-09-2004 7:03 PM

Stanfield, YES

stanfield 09-09-2004 7:06 PM

Just making sure. Kevins talking about my wake like it's all washy (about the same as calling my wife fat ) but it's obviously cause my rider just cut into it.

walt 09-09-2004 7:07 PM

I hate looking at a washed out wake when I'm making My cut. I rode behind a I/O last weekend in the Petaluma River and the wake was really small and washed out......but thats not to say I didn't have a good time though.

krbaugh 09-09-2004 7:10 PM

I guess some boats are way more sensitive than others to the boarders pull. I did not mean any offense it was just a good example of a washed out wake. The Cyclone wake that I posted did not wash out form the pull nor did walts, but yours did.
Interesting
walt 09-09-2004 7:16 PM

My boat will do that too sometimes....It will wash out at slow speeds also (20 mph or less)if I have a lot of weight in the boat.

krbaugh 09-09-2004 7:33 PM

The Cyclone wake cleans up around 20 and gets better

salmon_tacos 09-09-2004 8:51 PM

I like when the wake washes out on the opposite side. It gives you a nice visual reference and I guess it probably makes a slightly softer landing if you case the very top of the wake. In other words, it's a feature! From what I can tell, boats with steeper and/or narrower wakes, e.g. Super Airs, experience this effect more than boats with rampier and/or wider wakes.

An interesting observation: that Centurion wake looks like some of the better I/O wakes to me...something about the width, the shape, and the slight "crust" that forms on top.

"You guys do understand that most wakes wash out on the side that you're not making an aggressive cut into right?"

Not mine.

antbug 09-10-2004 7:59 AM

Hey Steve Hahn, where is that picture taken, lake or city. I cannot believe how blue that water looks

blev2 09-10-2004 10:25 PM

05 tige..... thats what i ride... no wash ever visable within 90 ft. of the boat.

byerly137pro 09-11-2004 6:10 PM

grampawakerider 09-11-2004 7:38 PM

Do you guys REALLY wanna see a washed out wake? Here's my i/o wake at around 20mph, with the trim not set. Go 21 and trim it and it's super clean!!

grampawakerider 09-11-2004 7:40 PM

solo 09-12-2004 12:36 PM

Phantom, it was taken on Lake Tahoe this summer right after the stop in Reno.
grampawakerider 09-13-2004 5:32 PM

Thats not me in the water. I use my gloves only when I ride in January and February.
