absoluteboarder 02-20-2009 1:26 PM

even though we are always improving boards manufacturers have stopped making earlier boards which were great! <BR> <BR>What model in your eyes is a classic because of its shape/dimensions/fin config. etc. and should be brought back like they do with cars...new graphics etc..?....and why? <BR> <BR>personally I think the 2006 marius was a classic board.....the board is slow (I am old) with big consistant pop and I found it just really gave me a stable ride and didn't force me into mistakes like some more aggressive boards. I also like the centre fin which sits on a bump which acts like a spine with the v taper...it really crushes the wake. <BR>and the lf fish....which incidently I am looking for if you have one (133). I havent ridden one but the board is wide like the marius and with the 4 fin config and lower rocker is prob. more fun to zip around on but still give big wake to wake pop.

dakid 02-20-2009 1:29 PM

bad ass motorhead in a 140

steezyshots 02-20-2009 1:33 PM

The LF Squirt, I loved that board!

wakeboard_pittsburgh 02-20-2009 1:37 PM

I always loved the O'Brien Fatty. So much fun to ride.

wakeboard_pittsburgh 02-20-2009 1:39 PM

Opps, it was Phatty. <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=155" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=155</a> <BR> <BR>"Mfg's Comments: The Phatty goes big! Shorter and wider, with just the right flex, this board has virtually no swing weight. The unique top structure enhances your spinning off the wake. Featuring shaved rails, deep edge channels and O'Brien's Feather Core Process this board will elevate you."

andy_nintzel 02-20-2009 1:44 PM

WAKETECH BYERLY YES I AM YELLING!

sidekicknicholas 02-20-2009 1:47 PM

The old DNA core stuff. <BR> <BR>I had a byerly 142 DNA, that board was AWESOME.

phenom_1819 02-20-2009 1:47 PM

Original Hyperlite Byerly -- the green one with the big bass in the middle. I broke it out again last year... man, what a great ride... big consistent pop and forgiving.

absoluteboarder 02-20-2009 1:49 PM

...yeah thats what I am talking about cal....diggin out the old boards to find out ....wow!

scbrips 02-20-2009 1:56 PM

Liquid Force Huckster - 147cm of fun. I was at my peak when I was riding that board (seriously).

to_blind 02-20-2009 1:57 PM

SECOND THE DNA SERIES FROM HYPERLITE. IF ANYONE HAS A TFD 142 I WILL BUY IT RIGHTNOW !! NO, I'M NOT YELLING, I JUST THINK CAPS LOOK NICE.

stoked_32 02-20-2009 2:01 PM

The plaid graphics on the the original LF Watson and the plain black matte' top. sick... <BR> <BR>does anyone have one thats in good condition? I'd drop good money for the 42. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by stoked_32 on February 20, 2009)

super squirt! the OG light blue one.

wakeboardern1 02-20-2009 2:34 PM

Man, I loved my super squirt... too bad I never learned how to use it right....

ttrigo 02-20-2009 2:52 PM

my thoughts exactly Nick. I was never quite good enough to take advantage of it either.

stephan 02-20-2009 2:57 PM

I'll vote for the Super Squirt as well. I learned my first invert on that board.

cpizzle 02-20-2009 3:10 PM

Oooo.... gimmie a Huckster!!!! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/talker.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Sounds like a board right up my alley!

misfits1981 02-20-2009 3:21 PM

Super Squirt(still have mine!!), original Hyperlite Byerly(still have that too!), Wake Tech Byerly, Hyperlite Byerly finless(the purple one), and the LF Helix.

thedoubleupkid 02-20-2009 4:42 PM

1996 Double Up 138 Greg Nelson Pro - actually I still have mine.

hypripper 02-20-2009 5:29 PM

Super Squirt, I still have mine but haven't ridden it in years. The Double up Collin Wright with the sea creature monster scooby doo monster looking thing was awesome too

02-20-2009 6:04 PM

Dude that Super Squirt was super fun! Lots of pop and lots of smiles.

jjakober 02-20-2009 9:56 PM

O'Brien PHATTY all the way!

westsidarider 02-20-2009 10:27 PM

CWB slayer, cant find the '00 graphix but here is the '01 double barrel that they changed the name to. when i first rode that board i never looked at wakeboards the same. it was the first 3 stage board i had ever ridden and still think was one of the best boards i have ridden to date <BR> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/672209.jpg" alt="Upload">

guido 02-21-2009 9:11 AM

2001 Byerly.... I'll take a 142 please.

phenom_1819 02-21-2009 9:26 AM

Evan, yes -- that was the year I was referring to, though mine is a 137. <BR> <BR>Interesting how many times Byerly boards are mentioned in this thread, apparently scott and Butch have been doing something right over the years!!

texastbird 02-21-2009 10:23 AM

LF Fish

tcaz 02-21-2009 11:07 AM

Westsidarida, <BR> <BR>I was just about to say the ol' Slayer. That was the first advanced board I ever hopped on. <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/672364.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>Along with the '00 Vert bindings. Looking back these offer ZERO ankle support. It was like wearing a sock with a couple straps. <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/672365.jpg" alt="Upload">

okcwakebrdr 02-21-2009 11:31 AM

Liquid Force ....Balance....massive pop on that board!

goinbigg17 02-21-2009 12:58 PM

I would love to have my 02 Byerly 142 back. Besides that I still own the others I would want to come back out, 2006 Marius 140, 2003 TFD 142 and the Mini Squirt from 1999!

norcalbordr 02-21-2009 2:48 PM

I've never loved a board as much as the original LF Trip. Best graphics on a board ever too. 99 trip was badass. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/672371.jpg" alt="Upload">

clubjoe 02-21-2009 3:40 PM

Since I'm sniffin' around for a possible replacement board, I'd like to have my 02 Premier graphics put on whatever I end up with.

tommmyd 02-21-2009 4:41 PM

None!!! I used to think this, and the LF Trip 38 was my favorite board ever... then I had the chance to ride a trip again after about 7 years of new technology and the board was crap... the new tech is so much better... but what do you really expect. I still have all my old boards broken or not and I do love them for nostalgia reasons but thats it.

wakebrdr38 02-21-2009 8:55 PM

Neptune Mission Series. I loved that board. Put two fins on each end though and that thing would be awesome

ponyh8r 02-21-2009 8:59 PM

LF Helix!

sidekicknicholas 02-21-2009 9:04 PM

^ Helix was great

lfadam 02-21-2009 9:45 PM

I would say LF trip but they already brought it back. I would say substance but they still make it! (SICK board, I think its about 7 years strong). I dont know about any else, I never rode the Balance but on paper it sounds right up my alley so if they remade it id demo it.

wesley_is_wake 02-21-2009 10:29 PM

06' Watson

intotheflats 02-21-2009 11:34 PM

Wake Tech Byerly Blunt, best board ever, so fast, yet a ton of pop

chas 02-21-2009 11:50 PM

What about the LF Ultra Core?

walt 02-22-2009 10:40 AM

The Blade.

eternalshadow 02-22-2009 12:56 PM

I'd like to see another Shannon Best pro model. I always enjoyed riding my LF Best board. Might have ease up on the 2.25" fin and the double profile full length rails... but then again who am I kidding? The board was fast for a reason. <BR> <BR>I think many of us might be biased because often these are some of the first boards we learned on, but then again you compare everything you ride after to that first board.

wazzy 02-23-2009 10:07 AM

Thruster Cash Cow.... <BR>Bad A$$ Motorhead... <BR>something from Serum... I never got to ride one <BR>C.W.B... thats Colin Wright Boards... I should have bought it when i had it...

jjakober 02-23-2009 10:17 AM

How about Stinger, maybe the Freak! <BR> <BR>They had some pretty serious tech going on back in the day. Look at the weight and the cost!! <BR> <BR>Mfg's Comments: Top: Variable shaved rails, contoured binding mounts. Bottom: Quad-concave, V-bottom. <BR>Category: Advanced <BR>Construction: Compression molded graphite reinforced (Aero-lite, Torsion Braided Tube Technology) <BR>Length: 133cm <BR>Width: 17.25" max <BR>Weight: 5.9 lbs <BR>Rocker: 2.0" <BR>MSRP: $319 <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/672943.jpg" alt="1"> <BR> <BR>(Message edited by jjakober on February 23, 2009)

lyle 02-23-2009 11:13 AM

My first true love.. 142 DNA.. My first REAL (non plastic) wakeboard. Progressed 3.5 years on her. I feel like so many board shapes came from this board. Still got her posted up in the man room. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/672964.jpg" alt="Upload">

seattle 02-23-2009 11:25 AM

I'll take one of those Byerly DNA boards as well.

power_rider 02-23-2009 12:43 PM

I would have to go with the Byerly design before he left to do his own thing. That was a really good board.

wakeriderixi 02-23-2009 2:37 PM

LF Balance.. But G.N. left so I don't know.

andy_nintzel 02-23-2009 2:53 PM

wakeboardsam 02-24-2009 1:55 PM

I have this board: <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/673345.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR>It is even signed by Byerly (however you can hardly see it anymore due to me riding it after he signed it). I will sell it if anyone really wants it, it just sits in storage.

thedoubleupkid 02-24-2009 3:02 PM

I'm looking for the 1999 DU 135 Sam Owens, 143 Collin and 145 Igor Reggout. If anyone has these decks email me! Or 138 98' Nelson Pro <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=277" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=277</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=276" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=276</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=274" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard.asp?boardid=274</a>

wazzy 02-25-2009 10:05 AM

Sam - What condition is the board in &amp; how much you want for it? <BR> <BR>rope - My GF has a Sam Owens (might be a '98 though), but no way in hell she will let it go.. good luck &amp; if you come across 2 of those Sam Owens let me know...

wakeboardsam 02-25-2009 10:26 AM

Forrest, <BR>The board was originally damaged in shipping by a "shipping strap" that dented in one of the rails. The board was repaired with Pemex and you can hardly tell it was ever damaged. It rides like it should. The board doesn't have any major scratches or anything like that. I think I paid $100 for it so I don't really care. I have an offer for $150 though plus shipping currently on the table. He was trying to get money from his dad though. <BR> <BR>Have you guys ever ridden this board? It's very hard to ride, it's glued to the water and tracks like a freight train. I'm not sure why anyone would want it.

shellyrn 02-25-2009 12:38 PM

Ropeking, <BR>My husband has the Colin and the Nelson...sorry, he still rides 'em!

bizz 02-25-2009 1:05 PM

I have the first ever nelson pro model. First year Double up was around. Signed by Colin Wright. Also have two proto type Double Up Pure Rides from the first year the pure ride was around. Great Company.

02-25-2009 2:05 PM

Murray's Belmont 136 from 2002 is probably my all time favorite board. I've had so many good times riding that one.

nancy 02-25-2009 3:25 PM

Hyperlite belmont 132 is the best! I also have the 141. A few of my friends have got up on it first try.

westsidarider 02-25-2009 3:32 PM

anyone remember that board with the nose and tail that curled up. i want to say it was a neptune. could be wrong. i think it was yellow

Another vote for the Liquid Force Balance... <BR> <BR>I never owned that boat, but everytime I rode it it maked everything more easy and fun!

steve_jones 02-26-2009 9:04 PM

A year ago I would have said the Double Up Pure Rides, or Nelsons. But the new Tribute and Murray's are great new models.
