No way Dodge is gonna make it - sincerely its too bad.

GM has cap of 2 and owes 30. Bankruptcy is certain

I would never have guessed Ford is in best shape of the 3. I guess world sales provided a better position for them

Ill bet a free ride in my boat that within 3 years you can buy a F250 Cummins Diesel hybrid with Allison transmission.

Oh Yea congress should do a billion to bail out the boat industry - I know they deserve it more than Detroit

(Message edited by redsupralaunch on December 05, 2008)

That would make for a nice truck. I have always liked the inside of the fords, but the Power stroke and trans are not to my liking. I have been very happy with my 06 5.9 cummins.
Since you can already get that setup in the 450 and up then I'd say yes it's probably going to happen.
Not quite Nu Bu, it's the F650 cab and chasis and it's a CAT diesel paired with the Alison which is a lot different than that found in the Chevy. F450 and F550 is still Powerstoke and Torqueshift.
Really? Got the wrong info from our fleet supplier then, I'll have to give him an earfull.

The 6.7L cummins and allison tranny are stadard equipment on the 650.

(Message edited by 05mobiuslsv on December 06, 2008)

(Message edited by 05mobiuslsv on December 06, 2008)

Yeah you are right about the Cummins being standard on the 650/750 but it is a bit different than the one in the 3/4 and 1 tons.
The torqueshift is built off of the same platform as the allison... Just a bit larger.
I have only heard good things about the Torqueshift transmission.
The Torqueshift is a very good tranny it just doesn't have the pub that Allison has. We rarely see them being worked on in our shop.
No problems with my PS/TS combo and it flat hauls ass. I love driving diesels. Once that turbo spools up all hell breaks loose.
The TS had a couple years where they were a total POS 04-05 maybe cant remember exactly but they kinda picked up a bad rap for that. They have since got all the bugs worked out. I dont see myself ever getting rid of my Duramax but I sure do like the bodies and interiors on the F-250's!
Yea the Tourque Shift is proving very reliable - I really like mine. Im ticked off about the EGR Valve and Cooler. Its in the again for about the 3rd time on same problem within last 2 months at 90K.

I have not seen this cooler that went bad and started buning coolant. If someone can tell me about it Im currious. But anyway they ordered me a new one and hopefully Im good for another 90K. BTW Why is diesel $1 more/gal than gas??
^^^^New EPA ULSD requirements, gotta get back the billions it costs them to revamp the refinery capabilities to produce the stuff.

The refineries are selling gas for less than it costs them to refine it right now.
I'm not questioning your word nubu, but where can I find more info about the refineries selling gas for less than what it costs them to refine it. I just find this very strange.
David,

I doubt what you are asking for can be produced... I'm NOT buying it either.....
I prefer to just have my truck built to my specs...

David I work in the industry you'll just have to take my word for it. They are refining the crude they were paying over $100 dollars a barrel for, now the prices have dropped significantly as you know. Remember the price at the pump is not what it costs to refine, there are resale costs and several layers of taxes on top of that. Make sense?
Nu Bu I was also told they reduced the number of refineries for deisel by a couple which caused the price to jump as well. Any truth?
Hate here in Washington all 4 refineries are producing USLD so that's not the case here or on the west coast. I'm not sure about "other" companies in the rest of the US. I know that all refineries my company owns and operates are producing all 3 grades of diesel in the US. Here is a good website that's gives a pretty good breakdown of fuel prices.

http://www.eia.doe.gov/bookshelf/brochures/gasolinepricesprimer/

Sorry wrong link, this is the one specifically on diesel fuel.

http://www.eia.doe.gov/bookshelf/brochures/diesel/index.html

nu bu - That was a good read. It dosnt make me feel better but I understand it more. I was suprised that diesel has $.06/gal more tax than gas.
Chris it's a crazy process and you better believe that every level of government has it's hand in the batter every step of the way.
Excellent Nu thanks for the link.
