Weather is getting chilly, Lets see some trampoline edits!

Since not everybody lives in Florida, I know quite a few people have had their riding season cut a bit short. Thought some good trampoline video's might inspire some people to go out and and practice during the winter months. I remember we had a little video contest a few years back but it has been quite a while and I bet there are some people throwing down crazy stuff or at least capable of making some cool videos. My friend is bringing his camera over one day this week and we are going to make a video with a few friends just goofing off. Just seeing if anybody else had some cool stuff to post up! Happy New Years to everybody and safe jumping and riding (if weather permits or you're them bad ass types sporting the dry suits)

Here is my 7 year old kid on the trampoline we got for Christmas. This is the first time she strapped her board on while jumping.

Forgive me for being a proud Papa.

haha That is the best video posted so far! She is almost passing the handle on a 360 strapped in, quite a good start. How does she do out on the water?

We just started riding this past season. She had no interest in it till around July. Her birthday is July 17 so I got her a board. Here is a video of her on her 6th day ever on a board.

The kid is going to kill it in the future.

P.S. The previous post was the first time she has been on the trampoline while strapped in.

How fast are you pulling her? Just wondering cause my kids want to try this year.

Bumpass1 01-03-2012 5:42 PM

I started her at 8-9 mph to get her up and stable. That did not last long. By the end of the season I had her around 16-17 mph. The kid rides for 20-25 minutes carving all over the place. She has no fear of crossining the wake at all. She learned to load and release the line out in the flats without me even telling her anything about it. I had her at 85 feet most of the time. At the end of the season she wanted to attempt 1 wake jumps. I shortened the line to 50 or 55 feet (i think). Her first attempt was topside. She charged the wake without any hesitation and got booted about 3 feet up. She did not expect it at all. I thought she was going to bust out a raley on her first wake jump ever. The kid is going to kill it if she keeps it up.

I would post picks and video of my oldest kid, but she forbids me. Sorry for the hijack (remember, proud Papa).

Wiatowski 01-03-2012 5:55 PM

cool, my oldest is 7 and want to try this year I knew about the long line but didn't know how fast... 8-9 seems good to me thanks. I think all dads are proud of there kids accomplishments big or small.:)

My little girl was about 1-2 weeks past her seventh birthday in the video of her on the lake. You only need to pull the little guys just fast enough for them to get up. Give them plenty of line to move around inside of the wash. It won't take them long to get the hang of it. Good luck.

thanks for the advice.:)

12 years old?! There were some hammers in there. That is a pretty cool trampoline setup you have. Is that located inside your garage?

2lilwakeboarders 01-07-2012 8:16 AM

Thanks OG - We have a garage with high ceilings so we put it in inside for the winter.

clarkduh 01-07-2012 10:47 AM

Note to self, my next house must have high ceilings in garage! Just got the camera out and me and my buddy matt are going to do some jumping for a little bit. My friends are better at editing than I am so I will post it up here when we finish!

wake2blake 01-08-2012 6:41 PM

lol. you clicked on a thread to watch trampoline videos... your time can't be that precious

clarkduh 01-08-2012 7:57 PM

Rob, do you have a video? That video was sick! If you can spin and flip like that, have you gotten any double flips?

I really like that idea but not just for kids, do you think it would work for any kind of new boarder? i have tried to get my sisters up and they are age 13 and 16 but it is not working at all. do you think that the longer line would work for them?

I think that it is slightly harder as your get older. My kids didn't have the strength to "fight the line" when they were learning to get up. The biggest think that I have found to help teach people is to RELAX. Everyone wants to fight, kick, and pull themselves up on to the board. What I tell people to sit with the knees to the chest, elbows outside of their knees and that the pull of the rope should feel just like someone reaching down and helping you up on to your feet. In essence just helping them to roll forward onto the feet.

As far as the line, there are 2 schools of thought, long line gives you room to move with out the wake or white wash to get in the way, and the 2nd is that if you have a short line (45'-50' on a tower) will help pull newbies more upward which would help with getting them up on the board.

If you are able to get them up then I would put them on a long line (80') to give them the room they need the move around without being intimated with the wake. I would only pull them slightly faster than needed for them to get up. The 13 year old probably around 11-13 mph and the 16 year old around 13-15 mph. All speeds depend on the weight of the rider. Please be aware that I am by no way qualified to give advice to anyone. I speak only from my experiences.

thanks for your help all is appreciated at this time.

The best way I have found to teach beginners on boat is to make them sit down on the dock/swim platform and bend their knees to where their ankles almost touch their butts. You then tell them to reach out, grab your hands and once they do, pull them up to their feet. The motion of getting up on a wakeboard directly mimics that of having somebody else help pull you off the ground from a sitting position. If they can do that and keep their legs from going side to side, they should be golden!

I agree 100%. I did the same thing before I put people in the water.
