Supra Prop
 

Hey, I was just curious if anyone was running the 14.25x 14.5 oj prop on there supra's? I wanted to know if it helps fuel efficiency mostly, but other comments are welcome. I know there is other props and if you guys are running those let me know. Mines a 13.5 x 17.5 and I am looking into getting a new prop. Thanks.

You probably want to include more info like if you do alot of cruising with some boarding/surfing, a little cruising with alot of boarding/surfing, and how much average ballast/people you carry will effect prop choices with whatever results your are wanting. I'm in the same situation but I'm in a Moomba XLV (still a Skier's Choice boat). I currently have a 14.25 x 14 prop and run 2500lb-3500lb with ballast and 5-6 people on average for boarding/surfing.

I mostly wakeboard with 2000lbs of ballast and surf when I'm with my friends (I usually have at least 8 other people in the boat). If my family comes out with me then we do everything. I ski behind it every once in a while ( i can run the course at 34) so I still want to have some top end speed. I just want a little more fuel efficiency if it is possible, I remember reading in wakeboarding magazine that you will save on fuel if you have the proper prop. If need be I don't have to ski behind my boat (since it's a 22 footer) I have friends with ski boats. Hope that helps.

I have that prop on an 08 Moomba LSV. I don't do much cruising and never ski. Wakeboarding with the occasional surf break and tend to run heavy. For me it's a perfect match for performance. The downfall is that the prop is very noisy. Not sure if it's like that on all boats but I'd look hard at the ACME 1235 before buying the OJ. Good luck, it's a huge upgrade!

My top speed is now 36 mph at 5000 rpms. I almost always stay below 30 though because I don't like wrapping the motor out like that for very long.

I have the OJ 14.25 x 14 wakeboard prop on my '08 Supra with the 340 CAT ETX motor, this combo works very well for maximum torque. I can get on plain very quickly with a load of people and 1200-1900 lbs of ballast. Only downfall is the max speed is about 40 mph, but I rarely go over 30 anyway.... would rather have the holeshot and torque.

Thumbs up from me for this prop.... IMO well worh the $$$. They are having a group buy through June at Nettle Props, I believe you can pick up the ACME Edge 14.25 x 14 for around $440 which is a great price. I just picked a spare Edge up with the ACME prop pulling kit/case, very nice set up. Call JT at Nettle Props, he is great to deal with, they will take care of you.

I think I need to go down to Nettles, only an hour south of me. Been thinking that Acme 1235 but worried about trailer clearance but if it works on an LSV then maybe it'll work on the XLV

I have the same prop and set up as Travis up above. Works great!

My only complaint is I have a small whistle from it between 900 and 1100 RPMs. Too busy enjoying my lake time to worry about though...

I just recently switched to the OJ "wakeboard prop" on my '06 21V. I had the 13.5 X 17.5 and it was terrible for the elevation we run it at. We are at 6,100 feet and with a rider, 2,400 lbs of ballast and 3 people in the boat it would not plane. Since we switched over to the new prop we can get on plane quickly. I imagine this is saving us some gas since we are not plowing anymore. I would highly recommend getting the new prop.

I am not sure about the top end since we just got the new prop a couple of weeks and have not had the boat above 32 MPH. I rarely get it above 30 anyways so that is not a concern for us, but it may be for you. Good luck!

I just put thie 14.25x14.5 on my supra last week and it made a big difference. The original prop was a 14x18. The boat is a 2003 supra ssv. I dont know if this helps but with appox 2000lbs ballast and 8-10 people the boat comes out of the hole with ease. I have not tried to figure out the difference in fuel use yet.
