Any girls out there that started wakeboarding cuz of their boyf? I don't know how to tell him/show him how grateful I am for being able/willing to buy all my gear, other than riding and enjoying it. there will be "girly" times I won't want to go, that he may not understand and i don't want him to take personally. what have you done to help them understand that sometimes it's not the best time for us women?

I started out because of him too. Ive never not wanted to go riding when we can go (we dont have a boat so we rely on others). Just explain to him that sometimes you just dont feel like riding, but not because you dont like wakeboarding, but because of your "girly" time and it makes you uncomfortable.

i'm in the same boat! i knew if i didn't start that we would spend much less time together in the summer--and now i love it!! your improvement and progression will be thanks enough for him--it's really exciting when people learn something new..mine finally landed his 360 yesterday and it was awesome!! be excited for him too! as far as the girly stuff, i find that i still want exercise during that time and riding is a great way to help alleviate cramps! try it before you knock it out completely! there may be a day or two you really don't want to, but just make sure you still go out and watch/drive, etc! good luck!!

Thanks Cris and Farrah. always helpful and reassuring to know some others can relate. I'm sure I'll be chatting with you soon

Sonironi... don't sweat it. Like Cris said above, just tell him it's your time of the month. (or as I like to say: "my friend of the month is here") Hahaha... As soon as you tell him that, he should understand. If it's someone elses boat you don't want to feel like a burden for having to dock so you can change your tampon. And if you guys own your own boat then give it a try on your light days.

as for a mans view on this subject, just being on the boat will help, a 3rd person is always needed!! also you may be able to experience the first time he lands a new trick!! would you rather see it or hear about it?? if you just cant be on the boat those times, do something special for him, wakeboarders are always in need of a massage!! put a wakeboarding video in and watch it with him!?!? your interest in the sport will get you huge bonous points!!!!!!

kal

Check this out: http://www.softcup.com/
Haven't tried them, but did consider it. (have my own boat now, so we dock when i say we dock! lol) But, if it's a problem of feeling like a pain in the butt cause you have to run to the bathroom alot, these are supposed to last longer.

Thanks everyone. I think he likes my massages, so at least I can do that. ha, ha. Anywho. unpredictable weather here in PDX so, can't wait to go again.

I've used the instead softcups and they are great! They are good for about 12 hours of use so you don't have to worry about changing them when you are out for the day. They are kind of tricky to get out but after you figure it out it is really easy to. You can get them at most Rite-Aids or Walgreens...I have yet to see them anywhere else.
