will just using the stock ballast be enough for a decent surf, i guess add 3-4 people on th esurf side as well. but will it be worthy enough to surf without extra ballast?

I have a 500lb sac in the rear locker and another one in front and it helps a lot. Factory is ok but more weight really helps. ck out our web site and watch some videos. Teamidiots.net

Yes it will be enough. We Surf all day with stock ballast the wedge down and 2 people in the boat. Of course more weight is better but it will work.

Depends on the size of your surfers. I'm 250 ish and with stock ballast it didn't do well at all. The wedge only seems to wash the wake out and doesn't really form it much at all. I have the power wedge and put it all the way down which only creates about 400 pounds of down force. If I pull it up a bit for more down force, it just kicks up a bunch of white water that isn't surfable.

I removed the hard tanks and put in 750's. Best mod I've spent money on! I can now surf with 2 people in the boat with no issues.

hey shawn, i dont get it.

what do you mean you removed the hardtanks and put in 750s,

do explain

Malibu launch system consists of all ballast tanks to be hard plastic tanks. He pulled each of them out in the rear which hold 250lbs each (If I am right) and installed soft fat sac type bags that hold 750lbs each. Much better setup.

wakeboardnut 09-06-2007 7:12 PM

how come the hard sac can hold only 250lbs worth and the soft bag 750's? isnt the volume of the area the same?

wakeboardnut 09-06-2007 7:15 PM

well, im aware that a soft bag can stretch. but that much to allow that much more water?

or is it that the hard tanks are super thick?

spherren 09-06-2007 7:56 PM

my 500lb soft is quite a bit bigger that the hard tank in the rear.

wakeboardnut 09-07-2007 9:02 AM

so what is the stock ballast? just 500 in the rear?

is it 500 each side? ccan you choose which side to fill up?

is there no ballast in the middle or the bow of the boat?

spherren 09-07-2007 9:32 AM

250 EACH SIDE OF REAR. YOU CAN ON A V-RIDE FILL JUST ONE SIDE. THERE IS A 500LB CENTER TANK STANDARD IF IM RIGHT. THE REAR TANKS ARE AN OPTION. SO TO WAKE SURF I FILL MY LEFT REAR TANK, CENTER TANK, PUT A 500LB FAT SAC IN THE FRONT BOW OR FRONT LEFT SEAT AND A 500LB FAT SAC IN LEFT REAR LOCKER. WEDGE DOWN AND THE BOAT SITS WITH THE ANCHOR HOOK AT WATER LEVEL. SORRY ABOUT ALL CAPS....

helinut 09-07-2007 12:14 PM

Yep, removed the hard tanks and put in a 750 pound Fly High sack.

For surfing I fill the surf side and the center tank and put the power wedge all the way down. If you want a nice long surfable wake, put another sack up front on the surf side. Too much weight in the rear will make a huge wake, but only a tiny sweet spot.

ahh, makes sense!

thanks guy! i cant freakin wait to get my BU!
