Roast Beef Shifty?

the roast beef grab by some is considered taboo, or not cool.
but i saw something ive never seen before, it was a poked shifty with roast beef grab.
so the back of the board and grab was on the boat side of the rider. looked insanely stylish and tweaked. and more importantly it was something that i had never seen before but really loved the way it looked!

anyone know of any pics or vids of this move?

gnarslayer 01-19-2012 7:38 PM

nothin wrong with getting a little beefy

beretta5spd 01-19-2012 9:45 PM

Colin Ryan is the king of the Roast Beef Glide/Shifty.

stang_killa_ss 01-20-2012 5:54 AM

thats it, he doesnt really have it poked but thats it. it looks alot better from the boat side.

ironj32 01-20-2012 5:58 AM

There's one at about 1:42 in this vid.

Here are a few. I call them chicken salads, but they're kind of the same idea.

Briscoe's last pic was a inspraiton to try the grab. I'm a huge fan of doing a hell of a poked Shifty! Finally got this grab on film last season...

Those are great pics Travis. If memory serves, chicken salad is where you twist your wrist like Travis and Josh are doing (your palm is facing down). Roast beef is where you don't twist your wrist and your palm is facing up.

captain_vilfo 01-20-2012 2:49 PM

theyre considered uncool?

downfortheride 01-20-2012 4:38 PM

Uncool? Hell no, try it... It's not the easiest grab to get at first! I say Chicken Salad to BS 180.

^^^ Those Chicken Salads are sweet! DFTR- I say pull that Chicken salad BS shifty back to a FS 180 into the flats! Here is a few pics of my poked Roast Beef Shifty.

Ryan ~ Holy hell that's a good idea! Winter has set in in UT but your idea about the Chicken Salad Shifty pulled back to a FS 180 is legit! SWEET photo's you have there!!!
PS ~ Them CIRE shorts are sick!!! I'm kind of strange but I have a department store Mani dressed in some wake gear. Hell ya their rockin the CIRE threads...

hockeysk8er222 01-22-2012 10:19 PM

I'm a little confused here, partly because now I want some Arby's, and partly because I'm not seeing a difference between these grabs. Is it just the way your off arm is twisted when grabbing?

travis_briscoe 01-23-2012 9:29 AM

Jordan, in Ryan's pictures, those are a roast beef grab. In order for them to be a chicken salad, his hand would have to flip around counter-clockwise 360* and grab in the same spot on the board. I know it sounds really confusing, but ultimately it is just a difference in the way your arm is twisted while grabbing, like you said.

downfortheride 01-23-2012 9:53 AM

Jordan ~ Knuckles up ='s Chicken Salad Knuckles down ='s Roast Beef.

hockeysk8er222 01-23-2012 10:19 AM

Alright, that makes more sense. Thanks for the clarification

luke_j 01-24-2012 10:13 AM

Not a fan of many between the legs grabs, especially when they make you look like a contortionist, but I used to do RB batwings that just felt better than when I'd grab them indy

Someone want to tell me how to upload pics from an iPhone?? Got a grab I want to know what it's called.

downfortheride 01-25-2012 8:42 AM

Chase - You have to click on "post reply" and choose the attachment icon. Not sure if it's the same on the phone browser.

tn_rider 01-25-2012 10:03 AM

When I click it it says upload file from computer. Then has the spot where you can copy and paste a URL. I think thats what I need to do but idk how to get the URL of my pics. Thanks for the help guys!
