Can anyone recommend a good boat-in campground on Lake Oroville? Are camp fires allowed at the boat-in sites?

Be careful with those, a group I was with once booked one, but the water level was down pretty low and it was close to a 250 yard hike uphill from the shoreline to the site. Luckily there was a floating site no show and they switched us over.

I'd recommend the floating campsite, they are pretty fun with the right group!! campfires are a no on it though, fiberglass plastic and heat aren't good friends

Does anyone have any suggestions for other boat-in camping at other lakes in NorCal? We will have 3 or 4 families with kids ranging from 4 to 16. It would be great if there were sites that allowed camp fires.

At Don Pedro you can set up camp on just about any open piece of shoreline. There aren't much in the way of amenities, but its still fun.

I believe that fires are allowed as long as you have something to contain them in. We camped on shore there before we got our houseboat and just used a 50 gallon drum that was cut in half as a fire pit.

The good thing about shore camping at Pedro is that there are more good places to camp as the water goes down. Also, no reservations needed!
