Equivalent to Hyperlite Belmont?
 

Is there a current offering from Hyperlite that is equivalent to the Belmont?

I thought it was the Temet or Motive? Are one of these still correct?

man.... They haven't made a Belmont in a long time. I doubt there will be anything near equivalent out there. Pretty much everything from the bottom of the line to the top will be better these days. Go try on some new boots. You wont be disappointed.

I think the Belmont is the Motive. I rode the Motive for a few months last year. Fun board. I then moved to the new Murray. It's everything I loved about the Motive but way better! If you are looking for the next board after a Motive/Belmont try the new Murray. The board is amazing!

The Belmont was Murray's pro model, so try out the Murray. I've ridden a friend's 09 Murray and its a super fun board.

I've had some really great responses from people who have tried or are riding my current shape. Yeah, I've had some different rides over the past 5-6 years, but I feel like I have come back to the consistently, smooth riding board. Nelson and I went to a 3 stage board, but didn't give the bottom a flat spot, so you get the snap off the wake yet smooth landings. If you're gonna get on the water this year, do yourself a favor and give'r a try.

I have been riding my current board, a 2001 Belmont 140 since I got it in 2002. I tried the 2005 Murray board and felt it was to slow, and the asymmetrical design didn't work so well for me so I went back to 'old reliable. I am pretty convinced the board is tired so I have begun looking for a replacement.

I will take the suggestion to look at the new offering.

2007 Murray 142 (something about this shape did not work for me)
2007 Witness (Really Buttery Ride)
2010 Murray Nova 142, Ronix Viva, B-Side 140, Tribute, Marius (all demoes could not fall in love), Vandall 144 (Awesome!)

I am a really big fan of what I describe as a board with low "drag" it's not so much speed, but how smooth it feels gliding through the water.

I think the Viva (with small fins), Witness (finless), B-Side (finless), Tribute all have a pretty similar feeling, gliding ride to Murray's older shapes. I want to try the B-Side 144 and see of that hits the nail on the head since company is donezo.

Sorry.... I was thinking Belmont boots..... I started on the original Belmont and loved it, too.

The Motive is the same board as your 2001 Belmont. I've been riding a 134 Motive for years on the cable and boat. I recently found a barely used old Belmont 140 on CL for $60 and picked it up for the boat. The Motive was the first board that I stuck with for more than a single season. I find them to be very rugged hitting the sliders. I usually wear then down to the core before I have to toss them.

I totally understand the "low drag" you speak of, I am of the same opinion when it comes to boards. I have ridden many from Ronix, LF, Blindside and HL. But none gave me the feel I of the Belmont. Although, the Colin Wright board from many years back (with the monkey on it) was the closest to the 2001 Belmont. It just wasn't as forgiving on the landings and rough water riding was brutal on the knees.
