Malibu college...

All you malibu guys, take me to school. I have a buddy looking at the LSV 23 (budget of $45 firm). He is looking at 2006+ because of the hull change in 2006, is that correct?

Also, if there is a hull change in 2006 for the LSV, what year 23 vride would be the same hull?

I am still having problems getting on the malibucrew and the "gear" section of WW no longer has any boats, so thank you for you in advance for sharing you vast amounts of knowledge.

there are three lsv hulls

old skool (diamond) through the 03 model year
wake 04-07 (v25 wake)
wake 08-current (also called v25 wake, but it's a different hull)

the ride 23 uses the 04-07 hull.

Ballast was above the floor in 04 even with the new hull. 05 it went under the floor. 06 power wedge.

Here's one local to me with all the goodies for $45k: http://reno.craigsli...3603603458.html

There is only one 23 ride hull, which is the v25 wakesetter lsv hull from 04-07. AFAIK, you cannot get bow ballast in the ride, so the wakesetter is "better" in that respect.

Where are you located? I know of a really clean 2006 in Buford, GA.

If hes open to the concept he could probably get a really good deal on a lightly used A22. Ive ridden the A22 when weighed equally to a VLX or a 23LSV and its an awesome wake. I know axis is not everyones cup of tea, but its an idea if he is looking to stick to a 45k budget.

I bought a 04 LSV last spring for about 40. It had 255 hours on it and was in pretty good shape. Love that boat

this one up in bend might be worth a look too? http://bend.craigslist.org/boa/3622169159.html

Southern California... so georgia is a no go. He would be willing to go north to Oregon and maybe as far east as Texas if the right boat for the right price presented itself.

Shawn, thanks, keep em coming.

Eric. I have an A22 and he has been in it. He definately likes it and it could be an option, but the extra foot in length + the cab forward design of Malibu compared to axis bigger bow nets almost 1 1/2 feet of cabin space, approx, whatever it is it is noticeable. He is looking for just a little more length. And yes, he has sat in a 247 and it is just too much.

thanks
