Does anyone use this? I just got a copy of it and i don't see why i would use this instead of photoshop CS3. Anyone have any experience with this?

It's not meant to be used <i>instead of</i> Photoshop. It's meant to be used <i>in conjunction with</i> Photoshop. Lightroom is more of an archiving/storage sort of program so you can import your photos into the program and be able to access any photo you've EVER taken in less than 10 seconds. It's just a bonus that the program allows you to do a host of other things such as batch edit photos and create photo galleries, etc... <BR> <BR>So I'll open up Lightroom and import all the photos I just took, then enter in which rider is riding, where the shot was taken at, and other things like that so if someone ever needs a shot of so-and-so, I can find it really quickly. It also allows you to create groups and rank photos, so I can easily find all of my favorite photos or show you all of the photos that I've ever had published in Alliance Wakeskate mag. It's a really awesome program, but like Photoshop it's just another tool and you've gotta learn how to use it and where it fits into your workflow if you wanna make it worth your while.

I have both lightroom and CS3. Use lightroom for about 95% of my stuff and CS3 when I need something else like photomerge or layers of some sort. <BR> <BR> Once I have my CS3 tweaks I make sure it imports back into lightroom for EZ access <BR> <BR> If I had to choose between them it would be lightroom without question.

I think it depends on what you are doing. LR is for post processing. It makes changes to the picture in the aspects of color, saturation, brightness, and quick cropping and spot removal. <BR> <BR>PS is used for more heavy duty editing. You can also perform the tasks that lr does but it isn't as intuitive. <BR> <BR>Also, lr has some great plug-ins from onone software.
