has anyone surfed behind a x 80? how is it? is it comparable to centurion enzo or better? Any tricks?

gotwakex45 08-04-2009 1:42 PM

I have a X-80 & X-45, X-80 blows anything out of the water when i comes with surfing, duel props, dual trim plates, 1000 pounds of ballast, you can basicly make your wake go from a foot tall to waist high in 2 mins.

brooks 08-04-2009 1:47 PM

I am so close to buying one right now and i would hate to spend all that doe and find out that my centurion does better. thanks for the direct info. Have you ever seen a enzo wake?

ollies_drew 08-04-2009 1:59 PM

2 props= more prop wash. I have yet to personally see a good clean wakesurf wake behind an X-80. especially for the price of one of those. if you have pics please post

brooks 08-04-2009 3:14 PM

hey tyler do you have an pics of your wave on the x 80

gotwakex45 08-04-2009 8:24 PM

Will post them tomorrow, Drew hates on the mastercraft of course he rides centurions, X-80 will kill the centurion any day... Pics will be posted tomorrow mid day.

bac 08-04-2009 9:21 PM

Sounds more to me like Drew was merely giving an opinion from his experience with the boat and asking you to validate your claim. Sounds like he's interested to see if it can throw as good a wake as you claim. Didn't sound like much hating on MC to me

That being said.....

(Message edited by bac on August 04, 2009)

I would LOVE to see pics from behind an X 80.... I expect great things, but you never know...

formfunction 08-05-2009 6:48 AM

I have personaly seen the surfwave on a x80 and the best way to descride it is whitewater rafting.

ragboy 08-05-2009 8:19 AM

LOL, I love it. Whitewater rafting. Now thats funny, I don't care who you are. If I am not mistaken, hasn't tyler posted the same thing before, but never with pics? I am all for seeing another boat with a great wake, but you gotta show pics and/or video to support a claim like "blow anything out of the water". I would also like to see the "foot high to waist high in 2 minutes". I am wondering if he pops some blue pills into the engine compartment to get that. You might try cialis, the big wake may last longer.

slimjim44 08-05-2009 9:30 AM

I think Brock just created the next newest thing in boating....wake white water rafting. That would awesome to see someone rafting behind the boat with no rope, only paddles.

brooks 08-05-2009 9:36 AM

hey guys we all know that most people just dont know how to weight the boat right , sounds like tyler might have it figured out. I bet if we had a day to play with one of those boats we could get a sick wake going. I personally have a centurion enzo and the wake is great, but if we can find a better wake that you can switch to either side that would be awesome. I would sell that enzo right now.

ragboy 08-05-2009 9:37 AM

LOL, if someone does that anywhere in NORCAL, let me know. I will bring my crew and cameras and make a vid. That is too funny. Ropeless tubing. Gotta use one of those big rafts with like 6 seats in a circle, and a cooler in the middle.

ragboy 08-05-2009 9:41 AM

@brooks - you aren't too far from me. Take a trip up next month for a day and come for a ride on our tige. It makes a great wake, and I can switch from one side to the other with just a flip of 2 switches and 15 minutes. And I have the pics and videos to back it up! Would love to have you.

I agree, it would be fun to play with an X-80 for a day to see what it could do.

brooks 08-05-2009 10:27 AM

lol , i agree , robert thats pretty funny stuff . extreme white water rafting behind a boat . I bet if you had another boat building a wake to you probably could tub it. Thanks for the invite robert , i might take you up on that . My friend has a tige also . very nice boat. I will get some pics of our wave and post them. I have to go out and surf first. I never take pics

ragboy 08-05-2009 10:48 AM

yes, always love pics of wakes.

gotwakex45 08-05-2009 12:03 PM

Wake pics up in a sec

It looks like when straight, or straighter, you are getting that double lip, then kinking it makes it better.

Just my 2 cents, its a decent wake, but I hope you didn't spend all that money just to surf. And I mean no offense by that, its just that a good surf wake should be made going straight, and for that kinda dough, I don't see anything that would put this in the "blow anything out of the water" category. Just looking at wake pictures, if price was the same, I think I would stick with my boat. Just my 2 cents.

ogopogo 08-05-2009 2:45 PM

meh... my old DD 2000 Launch put out a better wake then that.

meraculus 08-05-2009 3:44 PM

The wake on an X-15 didn't improve until we added at least 2000 pounds of sacs.

As big as the X-80 is I would think it would need a lot of weight, have you tried adding several thousand pounds? or more?

gotwakex45 08-05-2009 4:36 PM

Never needed any other sacks... have always wanted to load it with a few thousand pounds and see how much it would grow

themxercr85 08-05-2009 7:00 PM

Doesnt look appetizing to me..

formfunction 08-05-2009 8:03 PM

That doesn't look like a x80 wake to me.Looks more like a x45.

brooks 08-06-2009 2:11 PM

look like it has some good potential, you should try weighting down that thing with a couple of fat sac on one side, Thanks tyler

dbh_brad 08-06-2009 6:16 PM

"I have a X-80 & X-45, X-80 blows anything out of the water when i comes with surfing..."

Really??????

themxercr85 08-06-2009 6:37 PM

I dont beleive that at all. But I've never seen it in person, I have seen X-45 and its decent. But theres no way an X-80 throws the best

tlatoani 08-07-2009 3:14 PM

Interesting stance on the board.

no_really 08-10-2009 4:51 PM

Let me ride all of the X's & Centurions that are talked about here and I will offer my honest opinion since I do not own ether one.

Any takers??

saceone 08-11-2009 5:17 AM

the only thing that's funnier than this thread is the dude's stance :D

meraculus 08-11-2009 6:16 PM

It seems to me that Tyler is in an enviable position, he's happy with he has.

I would love to be super stoked on a one foot wave, and with 2 of them I'd be twice as stoked.

meraculus 08-14-2009 2:51 PM

Here is a video of Chase killing it behind a Mastercraft X-45:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r71IM4iV34A

It's clean, but it looks like it doesn't have near the size or push of this Enzo sv230 wake:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CasrAvS_ZXo

duramat 08-15-2009 5:20 PM

Im curious, with an X-80 seeming you have the two props, do they counter rotate each other say giving you left hand rotation for the reg side and right hand rotation for the goofy side thus giving the best of both worlds? what about turning the other engine off if the one side isnt needed?? (I would suppose some issues with the non using prop dragging in the water affecting the wave possibly) I know absolutely nothing about MC's so hence the dum question asked. ?

formfunction 08-15-2009 9:16 PM

I didn't want to keep this thread going but I will try to answer you question.I am by no means a x80 expert nor did I design the boat but from what I have gathered the hull and swimdeck won't allow a wave to form correctly without turning it into wash hence the whitewater rafting.I don't know where the problem stems if its the prop or the hull but I can say the deck is a major problem. You could literaly put some lawn furniture on it and eat some lunch with a friend its so big.In all fairness we set the boat up every which a way and nothing seemed to improve.Did make is worse a few times though

jdjjamesz 08-15-2009 9:55 PM

Tyler, your from santa rosa, I havent seen you at lake sonoma , I want to see this big wake ,I would love to ride it.The bigger the better ,Im out there three to four days a week look for the boat sinking.

mhetheridge 08-16-2009 10:30 AM

I've got an enzo and a buddy with an x80. My enzo port side wake is FAR BETTER than he could ever get the x80. We added 750 in the back port locker and then 680 on the port side seat and then three of us all weighing between 165 to 240 on the port side. My enzo wave is much better. But what I do like about the x80 is that the darkside is easier to get a good wave. We can get get my darkside wake big but it's short. We've played with putting weight up front. I like James Harold want a big wave that has a somewhat long pocket. I grew up surfing. Tired of knee high surf/wakes. I'll try and find some pics of my boat sacked out and my buddies x80 sacked out.

ollies_drew 08-17-2009 3:32 PM

Tyler (gotwakex45) OHHH TYLER I was not hating on mastercraft. Yes I do ride for centurion. And as I simply said I have yet to see a good wake behind and X-80. And after seeing your pictures I still feel the same way. for a boat that big that cost over $120,000. or something that is not impressive. I can take a Avalanche c-4, or a mastercraft X-2 or a nautique 210 and make a better wave. I was simply stating an opinion. Thank You have a great time riding. And how much does it cost to fill that X-80 with Fuel??
