crossover in place of head unit.

I really don't want a head unit. Can I use this!

I would run the headphone jack/RCA adapter from my iPod to the input of the crossover, then have my outputs run to the amp. One amp for towers and in boats, the other for sub.

What is your price range? It would "work" but I wouldn't suggest it.. There are to many variable to "chance" running this way... But if you want to do it, by all means, yes, you could...

Wouldn't the in boats and the tower speakers play at the same level that way?Your in boats would be blasting the people in the boat when you turn it up for the rider to hear 60-70 feet back.

I have a very small price range, long story short, our old amps and headunit got destroyed in a freak monsoon that lasted all week. Now im just trying to get the stereo to play. The amp powering the tower was effected so right no I am running my ipod straight to the tower amp with the cord. All that works is tower speakers. Im planning on getting a 4ch amp, running the 4 inboats of channels 1 and 2 getting 80w RMS per speaker, then bridging 3/4 for the sub for 320 rms. The tower amp has a pass-thru RCA so Ill run the Hi pass output to the tower amp, then to the inboats 1/2 channels. The low pass output would go to 3/4 ch for the sub.

My budget is very limited, all I want is music to play, this boat really isn't worth putting top of the line electronics is it. My in boat speakers are just alpine marine 6.5's and the towers a alpine 7" coaxial so Im not really looking for the best sound quality.

As far as blasting people in the boat, thats fine, It just buddies that ride so we either blast the music or just turn it all off.
