I just bought a 06 V-ride and the steering if let go of the wheel wants to turn hard right. I know there is a adjusted on the rudder, is that for torque steer??

I am not sure about new boats, but older v-drives do turn due to the water from the prop hitting the rudder. Those were with cable steering though.

(Message edited by 266crownlinebr on May 22, 2007)

My 04 VLX will drive straight as an arrow with the hands off the wheel.

So it should go straight. Not sure what the adjustment is though.

Yes there is a flap on the rudder to adjust "positive pressure" on the steering wheel. This is also know as Rudder torque.

This stemmed from Slalom days when the drivers wanted some "feel" to the steering wheel.

If you think it is more than that, have your local shop adjust the rudder.

http://www.waterskimag.com/article.jsp?ID=12220

(Message edited by rson on May 22, 2007)

My VLX didn't have a tab so I ground the rudder to offset the pull. Works great now........
