Has anyone made a home made winch and if so using what and how much it cost you all together. <BR> <BR>I was thinking of making one out of an old 50 or 100 moto bike. <BR> <BR>if you have any pix post them. <BR> <BR>thanks

I think I saw one with a golf cart...they just took off one wheel and the where the wheel was had the spool with rope... don't see why a dirtbike would be any different.

me and a friend have constructed two winches now <BR> <BR>not difficult at all <BR> <BR>make your own frame, get motor from ebay, make spool from an old go cart rim and sheet metal <BR> <BR>managed to do ours for about 250 at the most <BR> <BR>most of the supplies were donated by dumpster, but you can get out making one real cheap if you find the right places to look <BR> <BR>sorry for the rant...

you can find them on ebay for about a grand fully made if you to just buy one

yea, it's not a "must have" more like a "nice to have" <BR> <BR>a lot of folks do a hydraulic brake, some do a simpler hand brake
