Dave what are you going to push the W7 with.

detonate69 12-09-2006 2:45 PM

I have a crossfire VR602.

cool232 12-09-2006 3:37 PM

David what year is your MC?

grant_west 12-09-2006 3:39 PM

What does that crosfire push in 3 Ohm's

detonate69 12-09-2006 4:18 PM

The boat is a 99 205dd, and the amp puts out a little over 600 watts into 3ohms. sounds pretty good right now. a million times better than the free air 12" kenwood that came in the boat.

Is your progress like mine? Slow but steady!!
I have so many going on, I cant seem to finish one before starting another.
http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k243/wakegirl_82/Boat%20Projects/?sc=1&addtype=local

JoJo your cupholder rings look fantastic! are ther two LEDs in ther or one? where did you get the acrylic rod and what size and shape is it?

I wish i wish i could work on mine right now but its in storage. sad face.

gti2lo 12-10-2006 5:06 PM

Anymore progress pics on that W7 going in? Like the idea you thinking of doing there. I agree the factory free air 12" sounds like crap!

josnow1 12-10-2006 5:07 PM

David, I have two LEDs in each cup holder ring. The acrylic rod is just your typical mini blind wand. I used the hex shaped and also the star shape. Cant decide which one I like more. Picked hex shape up at Home Depot and star shape at Lowes.

captain_542 12-10-2006 5:21 PM

aha. how much is a rod? im pretty sure u can get a 6 foot section online for a few dollars mayb 2 ish.

josnow1 12-10-2006 5:26 PM

It was under $3/rod and they were short. Dont know the exact length but you can do 2 cup holders per rod.

detonate69 12-10-2006 7:35 PM

no no more pics yet. Later this week I'm going to finish the facing board and put it in so I should be done later this week. I'll post pics of the finished product at that time.

Then I can start on the LED's. I ordered my toggle switch and wire for the led's yesterday. I'm hoping to have it done by new years.

If you take your box to a Line-x or Rhino lining shop they'll coat your box for $20-40 depending on the size. I did this with my 13W7 and it looks awesome. Plus, you don't have to carpet it to look nice. Wish I could say the same for my poor glove box.....It's not holding up too well with da BOOM

grant_west 12-11-2006 10:43 AM

Dave: Did you get my E-mail? and What are you going to do about the stop start line where the LED's stop and start. That black aera? Looks like hell

wakecat 12-11-2006 4:28 PM

Hey Ken, do you have any pics of your 13W7? What amp are you running to it?

spoonman 12-11-2006 7:21 PM

JoJo could you elaborate on the cup holder rings? How did you get the rod to stay circular and where are the LEDs?

josnow1 12-11-2006 7:37 PM

Brad, I followed this project.
http://www.geocities.com/crx_auto/angel_eyes.htm
Im still playing around with mine to "clean" it up some...not happy with the black ends.

knwebs 12-12-2006 7:12 AM

Johnny, I'll take some tonight for you and post. Don't know how much you'll get to see of it because it's a downfire box and I've got to remove the seat in order to drag it out from under the passenger cargo area. But I'll take a pic of it and my amp for you. It's a JL 1000/1 mono. With the seat up or down you can stand between the windshield and look out of the boat and everything is blurry because of the BOOM vibrating your body. It'll handle anything you throw at it....Buddy of mine has a competition CD that used for these systems and we throw it in the boat it would litterally jump up and down off the floor...

loux2 12-21-2006 2:59 PM

Hey David,
Any more pictures of the sub install? I am curious how the face board attaches to the sub box? Do you attach the two?

detonate69 12-21-2006 4:09 PM

I've been kinda slowed up with some things coming up. I'm planning on finishing it up this weekend. I'll post pics by xmas.

detonate69 12-25-2006 11:54 AM

Heres a finished pic. I think it's pretty good for my first boat install. Not perfect but pretty good. Next one will be a lot better I've learned a lot doing this. It does sound good though.

grant_west 12-25-2006 12:22 PM

Dave: Nice kick pannel. I guess your boat has a green accent stripe and thats why your kick pannel is green. I have always wanted to do a Green LED project. Green light is pretty cool at night. Nice job
