Brake Actuator Groan (Noise)
So my trailer for my V220 Supreme has been making some pretty nasty noises when coming to a stop. The moment I begin to decelerate a groaning noise comes from what sounds like the actuator on the trailer tongue. Once I begin to pull away from a stop it goes away. Any ideas? Could it just need to be lubricated or something?

That's the brakes

Check your fluid for water
|
I've already got new brake drums on order with a plan to totally flush the lines. When I was hauling the boat yesterday it just really sounded like it was coming from the actuator not the actual brakes.

I had the same problem, I sprayed wd-40 all up in the tongue and it went away. I have an extreme trailer and they have a plastic cap that covers the cap for the brake fluid. Under the plastic cap is where I sprayed to the WD to fix the problem. I would just go to town on the tongue with wd-40. Spray everything that looks like moves.

So I've got it fixed, here is what I did:
Sprayed everything that moves down with WD-40. Replaced the brake drums. Flushed the old fluid out (I Really think this was the problem, because after I got all the air and old fluid out, the actuator felt much firmer than when I started). Everything is good to go now! |
