Who's next for Team Tige?

Tige posted this on their Facebook page:
It may be Labor Day weekend but we're hard at work!! Tell us your guess for who is next to join TeamTige. If you get it right, we'll send you free Tige gear
https://www.facebook.com/tigeboats

Guys got any ideas? Seems like they are loading up their team for '14! I voted for Randall Harris but I doubt that would happen.

Bob Soven or Josh Twelker. They need a another young gun.

Bumpass1 09-01-2013 4:56 AM

Gordon Harrison would be my guess over those too. I don't see Bob leaving Nautique.

tn_rider 09-01-2013 9:15 AM

Twelker has an x-star..soven isn't leaving nautique. I'm gonna say Daniel Powers.

tn_rider 09-01-2013 9:19 AM

Or Austin Hair.

If this was posted a month ago who would have guessed Rathy or Dean, LOL. Can't wait to see their full team lineup and where Tige will grow from here.

Houstonshark 09-02-2013 6:51 AM

Johnny Manziel.

simplej 09-02-2013 7:25 AM

Jeff Langley.

There is no reason for Bob to leave Nautique with the G23.

The motivation is usually money....not the boat!!!!

It's hard for me to believe Mastercraft ,Malibu or Nautique couldn't outbid Tigé.

boardman74 09-02-2013 2:45 PM

Not saying they could. Not probably about who can outbid who. But who is willing to throw the cash out. I could care less who rides for what boat. Has 0 to do with my boat shopping. I couldn't even tell you what rider rides for what boat.

What I'm saying is to most pro athletes and I am sure wakeboarders are no exception, Its about money not the team they are on. There are a few loyal left but for the most part when contracts are up its the highest bidder. Obviously Tige thru out a better offer to Rathy and Dean or they would have stayed where they were at.

All I am saying is people go where the money is at and right now it seems like Tige is writing checks. I personally wish they wouldn't because at the end of the day selling boats pays those guys salary. If they are paying more to pro's then boat prices have to rise to cover that. Thats is bad to me as a consumer.

So to Rehash....never said anything about who could outbid who.

timmyb 09-03-2013 6:55 AM

How much do they really pay them though?

kristian 09-03-2013 9:00 AM

Every contract is so different. Some get a salary and a boat. Some get a salary and a demo boat. Some just get a really pimped out boat they can sell off at the end of the year. Some get no money and a boat they can borrow. Some just get money to put stickers on their boards.....etc, etc. There are all sorts of contracts out there and many reasons why someone would choose to ride for another company.

Most pro wakeboarders can't afford a top end boat so there is huge motivation for them just to have one to use without having to pay for it.

A few years ago when a lot of companies were tightening the belt cause of the economy it was interesting (and surprising) to see who was getting their pay reduced or even stopped.

jarrod 09-03-2013 12:25 PM

A lot.

Some boat companies have to pay athletes to use and endorse their product. Some don't.

I'm not aware of any riders who actually are given a boat that would technically be considered theirs. And definitely not given a boat that a rider could sell off. It's pretty much straight across the board that riders who have boats are given or loaned boats and have a monthly/yearly salary along with clauses built into contracts like photo or contest incentives. The boat would still remain under ownership by the manufacturer and can be taken back at any time (and replaced with another boat).

I don't think anyone guessed that one. He's a very talented rider though.
