I'm 6ft1" and 75kg. tried the 138 murray and thought it was a really nice board but on landings seemed to sketch out really easilly. <BR>I'm used to having the step down rail and flat surface of my 03 premier to stabilise my landings so kept having to readjust on landings. <BR> <BR>if i used the 142 would my landings be more stable? or would they be more sketchy cause of the bigger surface area with that rocker. <BR> <BR>i'm hesitant on the 142 cause it just seems a bit big, and want to have a board thats easy to play around with, jibbing and cable etc

I would recommend a bigger board anyway IMO. Look at the pro's...a lot of the riders are shorter than you and still ride the big boards. Just my thoughts but by no way am I an expert, I have the 142 Murray and am looking forward to trying it out this weekend.

how tall are you josh? don't you like the idea of having a smaller board for manouverability and less edge catching tendancies? <BR>I know its mostly mental but it can definatly affect the way you ride

don't look to what the pros are doing, you got figure out what best suits you. Its all personal preference, you're capable of riding any size board each size has its good and bad points, if you're uncomfortable riding a larger board, then I would say find a board shape that fite you better. A larger size will have a more stable landing, given the more surface area, but if thats the only reason you buy the larger board then I would say check out some other shapes. If you can try out the 142. I rode the 142 back in feb while I was at the boardingschool, I liked it a lot, but then again I like bigger boards so... again personal preferance. If you don't have some place local where you can demo, I think trinity board shop still does demos, you order the board and have 30 days to try it out and send it back and they give you all your $$ back. It might be worth doing, especially since boards arent cheap, you want to get the best bang for your buck, it'll save you money in the long run. I can tell you that the murray board rides pretty big. My friend is your size and he rides mine and it is a 138. The 3.2" rocker makes the board feel a lot bigger than it is. I'm 5'6 to 5'7, pretty advanced rider, and normally ride a 138-140, but on this board, i almost feel like I need it in a 136. 3.2" on a 138 is CRAZY but none the less, it is the best board i have ever ridden and I highly suggest you get one immediately. It was the first board that when i made a transition onto it the first time, I was completely consistent with all of my normal tricks and I was going way bigger. I was also on a 3-stage before and the transition to a continuous did not effect me at all. In fact I was feeling so confident after about 3 or 4 jumps that I tried a pete rose which is not very consistent for me and i took it huge about 5 feet into the flats

kyle, <BR>how did you find the landings? i normally land really central on the board but felt when i did this (especially on backrolls) the board would slide out so i'd need to sketch around a bit to get my balance. <BR> <BR>i think its something do with the 'spoon' shaped belly, but find it difficult to land on edge on that board (altho' really nice to land flat). <BR> <BR>Any tips? or d'u think its something that i'll just get used to? as the board's a completely different ride? <BR> <BR>also, an after thought, does everyone else agree with kyle about it seeming like a bigger ride cause of the rocker?

I'm 6 ft. I like the bigger board surface cause i feel more stable on it. Rode a 137 and felt like i really had to fight to keep good balance. I'm a big guy too, so the big board surface does help. As far as tricks, i'm not throwing down huge stuff or anything, but so far so good. Been able to land a backroll and tantrum more easily. Find what works for you, but I would say try it out.

Maybe you just need more fin?

Harry, it is the softest landing board i have ever ridden. I ride it finless and i reccomend you trying that out. On bigger tricks I do find that a lot of the landing is centralized to the center of the board but other than that, the thing lands like i never left the water

I rode it without the centre fins and just found that when i was coming down from my roll it sketched out and i had to fight to control it. <BR> <BR>i'm starting to think this could've been because it was my second set of the season, but the set before i rode a 3ds and the landings were much more solid, altho' i didn't like how tight it was on the water, just a surface 180 wipped my head into the water - those 6 degree fins catch so easilly, haha
