I am looking to get into this. I have been wakeboarding for a while but this looks fun. What would be a good board for a beginner. I am 5'9" and 170lbs. I have a 2007 mastercraft X2. How do you get a wake big enough? Do you weight the boat on the side you want to ride on or the opposite? Is there anywhere to get any info on getting started?

Hi James, <BR>As Ryan mentioned the how to wakesurf site is a great resource. I would second that the Landlock is a good beginner board that is fun for everyone (except the smaller kids - they may not be able to push it down with their heels to get up). I really like the Inland Surfer Blue board as an all around family board as well. My wife likes the HL broadcast (it has a little more rocker than the Inland Surfer) potentially making it harder to pearl (or nosedive). <BR> <BR>The basics for weighting is that you want to weight the side of the boat that you'll be riding on. For most people (especially beginners), it is the side that they would ride frontside (or toeside or facing the wake). If everyone in your crew rides the same side you will be stoked. But if not, some of you will probably learn to ride backside or you will get really good at emptying and refilling the fatsac. <BR> <BR>Which brings me to the next point. You'll probably want to get a fat sac and pump for extra ballast.
