flying to arizona to pick truck just thought i would get some feedback. pulling 2005 21v with this rig.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390077.jpg" alt="Upload">

anodyne 11-16-2006 6:24 PM

Sweet jiminey... I think you could probably tow a 747 to the lake with that thing.

midwesty 11-16-2006 6:37 PM

its an extended cab<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>but sweet truck no less. a bit on the big side for me tho. how big are the tires and lift?

jeff359 11-16-2006 6:40 PM

I was also curious about the lift and tire size. It's about where I wanna put my excursion.

walt 11-16-2006 6:54 PM

Nice looking rig.

humboldtboarder 11-16-2006 6:55 PM

I'm guessing 8.5" lift with 37's. Sick truck!

gti2lo 11-16-2006 7:03 PM

have fun reversing at the ramp.... ahhhh I can't see the boat behind me!!!!

99_slaunch 11-16-2006 7:06 PM

Those are definitely 20's and I would guess 37 or 38's on the tires.

bigworm 11-16-2006 7:14 PM

sweet truck 02/03? one of the last years of the 7.3l and the leaf springs... have fun making a u-turn at the bottom of the ramp. if the offset of the wheels are wrong then the tires will rub on the leaf. i have a couple buddies with them, one has a 01 crew cab short bed on 37's on 17's and the other has a 99 std cab long bed on 42' on 22.5" semi wheels, my gf's ext cab longbed is stock all of them pull my 06 210te easily, the ext cab isnt that cramped either... watch rock chips and diesel smoke on your boat though. <BR> <BR>if you dont mind me asking how much are you paying? what are the upgrades? i spy a banks sticker.

mendo247 11-16-2006 7:17 PM

duece duece's maybe? really nice truck btw! id be pumped! <BR> <BR>(Message edited by mendo247 on November 16, 2006)

bigworm 11-16-2006 7:39 PM

my guess would be 40's on 22's

humboldtboarder 11-16-2006 8:05 PM

If those are 22's then the tires are 40's. I think they are 20's with 38's. The angle of the picture makes it hard to tell. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by humboldtboarder on November 16, 2006)

wake_upppp 11-16-2006 8:43 PM

triple duece's wit fiddy's brah! Hells yeah! Super sick!...but seriously, clean looking rig man.

redneckonaboard06 11-17-2006 6:12 AM

Hell yea! Sweet looking rig. Lifted trucks haulin' boats is where its at. Better have faith in whomever is backing down the ramp though. Everyone in my crew can't seem to figure it out in my rig (02 Z71 w/ 8")

superairdawg 11-17-2006 7:03 AM

I think that truck would be a perfect candidate for one of the license plate cameras to see the boat for hookup and unloading. <BR> <BR>Sick ride, btw!

dan_lee 11-17-2006 7:20 AM

nice ride. Hit me up if you want to hit the lake while you're here. I see we have similar taste. I've had great luck with these. <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390137.jpg" alt="Upload">

boarder_x 11-17-2006 7:48 AM

dan lee, <BR> <BR> What is that profile pic???? Were you at the ramp and saw that? <BR> <BR> I think that would have to classify as "surf wake worthy."

dan_lee 11-17-2006 9:51 AM

Robb, <BR> <BR>Thats my old boat. It's wake worthy. Check photos here. 21 footers are just as much fun, easier to keep clean and a little cheaper at the gas pump. <BR> <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.surfsideboats.com/news.asp?chaid=112988&amp;chsid=1861&amp;header=&a mp;nav=&amp;display=&amp;tab=&amp;topsiteid=&amp;s iteid=&amp;bvdid=2101&amp;bvdid_filter=" target="_blank">http://www.surfsideboats.com/news.asp?chaid=112988&amp;chsid=1861&amp;header=&a mp;nav=&amp;display=&amp;tab=&amp;topsiteid=&amp;s iteid=&amp;bvdid=2101&amp;bvdid_filter=</a>

boarder_x 11-17-2006 10:37 AM

Good Golly!!!! <BR> <BR> .. That's a wake!

abadsvt 11-17-2006 10:43 AM

That thing is huge!!!!! I am scared just looking at it!

jarrod 11-17-2006 11:05 AM

Blah Blah Blah....can't see the boat, can't turn around...whatever! <BR> <BR>The tow-ability of a heavy duty truck with a diesel more than makes up for these small gripes. I would take these concerns over a 1/2 ton gas truck anyday and tow circles around the Tahoes and Yukons with better mpg. <BR> <BR>Congrats! That truck is sick. I have a Superduty Crew Cab long bed (but a V10) It's like operating a fricken machine...I dig it. But it could never be a daily driver.

stephan 11-17-2006 11:25 AM

Now take that big beautiful ride and add one of these to it. <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.greasecar.com/" target="_blank">http://www.greasecar.com/</a> <BR> <BR>I'm seriously thinking about getting a diesel and doing this. Amazing mileage, cheap fuel, a little bit of a pain in the arse but can you imagine the cost savings? Take that you OPEC SOBs!!! That way when people give you ish for having a guzzler (at least here in CA) you can fire back and make them feel like a tool.

mendo247 11-17-2006 12:13 PM

i wouldnt recomend doing that lol.. good idea however not the best thing for your truck.. lots of people have had nothing but problems running systems like this or biodiesel in their trucks..

bigworm 11-17-2006 1:09 PM

i believe if a cop wants to be a dick there is pretty hefty fine for running untaxed fuel. also about the turning around deal i only mentioned it because these trucks in particular suck in that dept. it takes a mile to turn around, i ran off the ramp at mendo in my girlfriends truck making the turn. not the new ones though since they have coil springs and offer a much better turning radius. i dont get what everyones saying about not being able to see the boat dont you use your side mirrors? the boat will either be centered up in both mirrors or of to one side or the other it will always be in at least 1 mirror.

jon4pres 11-17-2006 1:15 PM

Most people on this board have a tower on their boat as well and unless you have bigfoot you will be able to see that.

dbust10 11-17-2006 1:50 PM

nice truck cuz, cant wait to drive it.

breadbutta 11-17-2006 2:19 PM

That truck is so huge it's actually creating weather! The top of that thing must be about 12,000 ft!

dhands88 11-17-2006 4:56 PM

thanks for the feedback cant wait to go get her. nice call big worm it is sitting on 22's with 40's. it has 11'' lift with banks turbo. chip added custom guages for oil temp, back pressure, bully dog exhaust. even come with 16 custom drop hitch. the wife will be backing and she is worried because it is a standard only way to go with big tires and lift. but she will be watching the tower. it does rub but he did upgrade the brakes and states it is crank all the way over so we will see. once again thanks for the feedback.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390250.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390251.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390252.jpg" alt="Upload">

wheres the tow bar?

jbudnik 11-18-2006 7:57 AM

That's funny I don't see a hitch. Must be hidden on those.

timmy 11-18-2006 8:02 AM

How many of you with the big lifted trucks actually take them mudding?

boardr2d 11-18-2006 9:21 AM

yes it is hidden, there is a flap that opens in the bumper

grant_west 11-18-2006 10:25 AM

Danny: Thats a cool looking rig congrat's <BR> <BR>Taste in tow rig's is as diverce as taste in boats. When the post said rolling to the lake in style and power I was thinking it was gonna be a Esclade or somthing like what Dimity posted. Like I said diffrent style and difrent taste. <BR> <BR>I crack up at all the diesel power guy's taking about how a diesel tow's like nothing else. Ummm I guess so.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0>.

dhands88 11-18-2006 12:46 PM

im pesonally like dodge's to drive but when it comes to torque and an uphill i promise i will just kick in some turbo and go right by you. lol oh yeah here is a pic of the 16'' drop hitch <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390377.jpg" alt="Upload">

boss210 11-18-2006 5:23 PM

trucks have mirrors on them, why would you have to turn your head around..

timmy 11-18-2006 5:40 PM

I want to see some pics of these trucks all muddy.

grant_west 11-18-2006 6:25 PM

Tim: Why? LOL <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0> <BR>Man you gotta give it up to the the people that have these lifted turcks that are clean as hell underneath. Lots of work keeping them clean under there. That truck is not my style but I can apreciate the work that goes into keeping somthing nice what ever it is you have.

timmy 11-18-2006 7:02 PM

Grant, <BR> <BR>the pics would show that they actually take it off road. Because what is the point of doing that to your truck if you don't? <BR> <BR>(Message edited by timmy on November 18, 2006)

kristin_ware 11-18-2006 8:13 PM

Some people just like the way they look. It's like when you see an old person driving a corvette. Have you ever owned something and taken it off road in the mud? It is a lot of work too get it clean again.

partydock17 11-18-2006 9:50 PM

I agree with Kristen, I used to charge any mud hole I saw... <BR> <BR>But it would take me about 3 trips to the car wash before I even got my truck decent looking again. <BR> <BR>Now I only go "Froadin" when I have a ton of stored up quarters in ash tray. <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>Danny T. <BR><a href="http://www.OKCBoardShop.com" target="_blank">www.OKCBoardShop.com</a> <BR><a href="http://www.WakeboardOklahoma.com" target="_blank">www.WakeboardOklahoma.com</a>

johnny_defacto 11-19-2006 10:00 PM

I guess that bling it has yet to step over into the dark side, exhaust that is... you will be hard pressed to find someone that would prefer to tow with a gasoline engine over diesel.

grant_west 11-20-2006 9:28 AM

John: Im sure there is lots of people that prefer a gas over diesel. If all you were gonna do was tow then Diesel is a great option. <BR>IMO a long wheel base SUV like a Surbarban is the best tow rig for these reasons. Smooth ride Quite, all the bells and whistles in comfort. <BR>I have ridden and driven a few friends F-350's and they have lots of power but ride and drive pretty hard making towing not as comfortable.

guido 11-20-2006 9:45 AM

Yeah, gas is way better than diesel.... To charge up your hybrid, not to tow. J/K. I never thought too much about diesel till I drove one. Now I'll never own a gas truck again. I guess I could be strange though. I love the sound of the turbo and the way it just spools through the gears. 3/4 ton, diesel Suburban, that's a proper tow rig. I wish you could option one like that these days. <BR> <BR>Grant, as far as F-350's.... Yeah, they're brutal when they're un-loaded. The 250's are a lot more comfortable. Kinda like driving a sports car. Definitely not cush like a Denali or Escalade, but not too bad. <BR> <BR>Norm: That's bada$$. Definitely like seeing trucks used for truck stuff.

redneckonaboard06 11-20-2006 12:14 PM

Charging thru a mud hole is fun as hell, but I can't stand my truck being that dirty, b/c it takes me a month to get it back to how it was and not find some dirt or dried mud each time I climb under it. Besides, mudding is hard on shiz.

99_slaunch 11-20-2006 2:36 PM

I love the Dodge and the F250 but the Chevy HD 2500 does ride much smoother. Independent front suspension verse straight axle.

bigworm 11-20-2006 2:54 PM

ifs = more parts to wear out. dont get me wrong im a chevy guy but im not a fan of the ifs for that reason.

wetsounds1 11-20-2006 5:55 PM

Diesel all the way! This is the third one I have built. Took the last ones off road but not this one yet..... Too much to freakin clean. <BR> <BR>Danny, 40 on 22's too same size lift. My wife drives mine all the time. She'll get used to it. Mine loves it, you should see the heads turn. But Dimitry has her dream ride! <BR> <BR> <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390901.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390902.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390903.jpg" alt="Upload">

99_slaunch 11-20-2006 6:31 PM

Norm <BR> I'm picking up what you're throwing down but I will spend a little extra in parts for a much smoother ride. My truck lifted rides smoother than my friends stock f-250. <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/390912.jpg" alt="Upload">

guido 11-21-2006 4:09 PM

Tim, that truck is a piece of art.... <BR> <BR>I'm not even sure I could drive that thing. Nice, man.... Really nice.

wetsounds1 11-21-2006 4:38 PM

norm, thats cool. It should look great with the new lights. You doing the whole clip lights and grill? Have you seen the new ford's the 08's? Not sure If I like them yet. <BR> <BR>I hear you on the ride of the Gm's, although this thing rides unreal for a truck this tall. <BR> <BR>Thanks Evan. I drive it everyday. My wife drives it when I am traveling. So it gets a ton of miles on it. It runs like a spotted ape. It will roast those 40's from a dead stop. <BR> <BR>I will see if I can scan in the article from Truckin, it was in the August issue.

super_air 11-21-2006 4:42 PM

Tim- is your whole exhaust polished or just the last 3-4 feet of it?

wetsounds1 11-22-2006 7:52 AM

CAR, <BR> <BR>The whole thing is polished stainless. From the turbo back. 4 inch all the way with 5.5 in tip. It is from Hog Performance <a href="http://www.hogperformance.com/p_home.asp" target="_blank">http://www.hogperformance.com/p_home.asp</a>

11-22-2006 8:02 AM

The lift is a bit much for my taste, but that's nice work, Tim. <BR> <BR>Are you familiar with Fabtech? What do you think of their suspensions? <BR> <BR>(Message edited by swass on November 22, 2006)

wetsounds1 11-22-2006 8:21 AM

thanks. fabtech makes a really nice kit. Had fabtech on my last truck. <BR> <BR>Rize does make smaller kits too. <a href="http://www.rizeind.com/" target="_blank">http://www.rizeind.com/</a>

11-22-2006 8:23 AM

Thanks. I've had my eye on a 6" Fabtech lift for awhile now. I'm waiting for my money tree to bloom.

bigworm 11-22-2006 8:53 AM

my dad has a 5" fabtech on his megacab and the thing rides nice, not alot of body roll either coming back form berryessa over angwin we were keeping up with a z4 with 6 ppl in the cab 4 of them were asleep.

raider40 11-22-2006 9:07 AM

I've seen Tim's truck in person at a local Dallaswakeboarding event and can vouch for how badass the truck is. The lift is a bit much for me but there's no doubt it turns heads. <BR> <BR>And yes it has seen some mud Tim.......I remember you after the mud wrestling display doing some nice mud burnouts!!

wetsounds1 11-22-2006 9:22 AM

HaHa, oh yeah, a little bit of mud. Not even close to norms though. How can I forget the chicks mud wrestling!!! And all of us almost getting struck by lighting. That was a fun event. Crazy weather but made it fun

wetsounds1 11-22-2006 9:34 AM

Here are some shots of my business partner Brett's truck. There is never too much when it comes to lifts! Full Kelderman Air Ride. About 18 inches of lift. 18 wheelers 22.5 wheels. <BR> <BR>It makes it real easy to load a boat trailer. Just drop the back end back up and raise the bags. Who needs a hand crank. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/391190.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/391191.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/391192.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/391193.jpg" alt="Upload">
