do people ever partner own a wakeboat like you and someone else split the price. My parents wanted to know because all we have is a bayliner and we cant afford to buy a wakeboat. I want to get a ski natique 2001 but they think it is to much of a risk buying a boat that old.

I co-own a boat with some of my best friends, but we do that with a lot of stuff... As long as there is an agreement, and everyone is an adult and responsible, it is not a problem.

I have not seen any co-ownerships work out well for wakeboard boats. I have seen many large sailboat partnerships work very well though. Heck many marriages even struggle with boat ownership

I owned a boat with partner for several years.

It worked out great for a couple of years, but as the years went on the little differences became big issues.

good luck
It can work, but I would not do it with someone that I have know for less than 10 years.

I think you may be better off going with the older direct drive.

Billy said it best and I'll add You might as well be sharing your girl.

My parents are not really willing to sell the bayliner for the older direct drive because they think it is a big risk and the boat could stop running a month after you buy it so I would have to save up money for a while and buy it myself.

wakeman7 04-07-2007 1:25 PM

walt not everyone can afford a wake boat.

<!-quote-!>quote:
walt not everyone can afford a wake boat.<!-/quote-!>

I understand that and that fact doesn't make having a parter a good idea.

Talk them into getting an old 2001. It is the best boat you can get for under 10k's. Tell them to look at the forums on all the different sites. And just don't show them the one's that start with "Problems with my boat." There are alot of beautiful 2001's out there just print out some pics and randomly place them where your parents will run into them. That worked for me a couple of years ago.

How does you're dad know that you won't have problems with the Bayliner next week or month?? No one really knows when something is going to break. You could sit there and say (what if)about every thing. What if the wake boat never gives you any problems? What if????????????

jaytique 04-07-2007 3:14 PM

yeah i would take the 2001 before a bayliner anyday. much much better boat, much better built, much less moving parts, and much easier engine to work on, (I like the word much)

wakeman7 04-07-2007 4:29 PM

I said that inboards are easier to work on. so I will talk to my dad. I am atleast thankful to be florida. My dad is in the milatry and we have moved alot.
