My throttle cable broke over the weekend. Luckily it was on the last day of vacation and was able to get back to the marina okay.

Replacement of throttle cable was uneventful. Engine was initially idling too high, but this was traced to me threading the PP servo cable too tightly onto the throttle cable and preloading the throttle body. Now the engine seems to be idling correctly. The odd thing now is that the PP tach doesn't match the stock dashboard engine tach. The PP tach reads 680, which sound right based upon listening to the engine, but the dashboard tach is reading around 1000. I don't remember this happening before I changed the cable.

I should be taking the boat out in a few days and a couple passes through the slalom course should tell me which one is correct. Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening or how to fix it? How does the dashboard tach get its RPM reading in comparison to PP?

This is on a '95 SNCB with a GT40 engine.

Thanks for the help.
AJ
