Hi all -

I am moving in a couple of weeks and want to take my 14' trampoline and enclosure, but don't want to have to disassemble the whole thing. I am only moving a couple of miles away and will not have to take any freeways --- mainly just side streets and through neighborhoods.

Any suggestions or ideas on how I can move it without having to disassemble/reassemble all 150+ springs. My plan is to remove the enclosure since that is just a few bolts and then transport the tramp frame on its side in a 4x8 trailer (obviously sticking out on all sides).

Any ideas or thoughts from those who have done this before? Thanks in advance.

pop off the legs, turn it sideways, get some rope

How high are the sides of the trailer? I turned my 14' tramp over as a precaution when tropical storm Fay was approaching and was surprised at how big the thing was when it was on it's side. When I moved to my current address I disassembled it. It was a mission but I couldn't imagine standing it on it's side on a trailer?
Also why would it have to stick out on all sides? If it is on it's side it will only be 3'6 wide.
The only place it would be hanging off the trailer is at the back.

Its not that hard to take the whole thing apart. We used to take ours camping when I was young and could disassemble and reassemble the whole thing in about 5 minutes by myself

5 minutes?? Are you kidding? Mine cannot be assembled by one person.I don't have springs and it is so difficult to secure the mat on your own. The more I think about it the more I realize what a mission it is. Especially on your own.

Yall are crazy, transporting it will be much harder than disassembling. We take our mat off every winter because of the snow. With two people, I would guess it takes about 10-15 minutes to take it off or put it back on. Just leave the springs connected to the poles. Its really not that big of a deal. However, if your looking for an adventure, try moving it assembled, it will take you twice as long, but it would be fun to watch. Those things are bigger than you think.

You could try this with some friends.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwDnS7lQErA

^^^ Great idea. Also, have one guy loaded up with one of these: http://www.outdoorpremiergear.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=139&products_id=32 so that all of you can carry the trampoline with one hand and enjoy a tasty beverage with the other.

**sarcasm warning!!**

Its good to see a collection of WW's finest chiming in on this very pressing issue. This is like that other thread awhile ago... "My white shorts are dirty. What do I do??? Help!"...anyways, here is my suggestion, and i only suggest this because someone else already recommended my 1st option (uh, it only takes 15 min. to assemble!)

Am I the only one that thinks it's not a good idea (and probably illegal) to tranport a 14' wide item on a 4' wide trailer?

xistential 09-17-2008 2:23 PM

Yeah, it's insane and probably dangerous. Imagine if you get pulled over? Wonder what they would charge you with? Insanity probably and then..................

joe_esq 09-17-2008 2:47 PM

OK OK, nevermind. Just wondered if anyone had ideas. Sarcasm noted and I will take it apart to transport. Thanks for the help anyway.

Dave/Mods, feel free to delete this thread. ;-)

I once did a move like that!!!it was just two of us, but the tramp had two wheels on one side. I had a friend drive my truck while i stood in the bed holding on the hoop Opposite side of the wheels. The hoop hung out out past my bed rails about 4 feet so the driver had to pull over for on coming traffic. We were on our cells giving calls to one another. We got it up to about 25mph and with lots of stares. Maybe you could attach a couple of skate boards to it HAHA
