OK I've been wakeboarding for a while and have been looking into picking up wakeskating this year. I was wondering if a different type of grip tape is used than skateboarding tape ? and if so where I could buy some.

And I was also wondering if ollies on a wakeskate are like ollies on a wakeboard ?

thanks

its the same grip as on a skateboard. most companies use jessup. ive been using diamond and its working great. just go to your local skate shop and buy your favorite grip. colored grip wears out super fast and gets slick, same with clear.

they are similar but you front foot doesnt slide up much.

thanks man.

Might need to make myself a WW stencil to spray onto the tape

ok, so if colored grip wears out super fast and clear wears out super fast, doesn't that mean that they all wear out super fast?

Brandon, colored grip seems to use a cheaper glue and the grit wears off fast. black grip will last you a good while. ive ridden clear grip and it went slick in a couple days. i ride black and i only replace my grip once a year and i ride a lot.

even when just skateboarding colored and clear wears out fast.

I remember from my skateboard days (when it was a daily thing) and i had tried out the color grip and the grip wears out stupid fast.

As far as the grip tape goes, it has to do with the pigments and dyes that they use on colored grip. Grip tape is naturally black, so when they add in the dyes and coloring, it gives up some of the strength and grip that it naturally has.

Keep black grip tape, and customize it a bit. I already have plans for my grip set up, and I havn't even received my new board yet.

What if you spray paint normal black tape, will that comprimise the grip?
