I have a few questions about after market trim tabs I am hoping somebody can help me out with. I would like to convert the fixed plate on my Supra to a movable one. In everyones opinion is it better to go with electric or hydraulic? Also where can I buy/shop for them. Everything I have found online looks like it comes with two smaller plates. I need just one larger plate about 20" x 9". Will i need two actuators for this or can I get by with just one?

Chris, I can get Bennett from one of my local suppliers if you want me to get a you a ballpark figure. Here is a link to some of the one's that my supplier has. Check out this. You may be able to piece together a system that works. I read up on both and they seem to have plus/minus about each. I am installing a Lenco (12x9 plate) on my Avy that I picked up for $220 shipped. There is also a guy on Centurion Crew that had a few of the Lenco for $260 shipped. Overton's lists <a href="http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?i=71185&amp;pdesc=Bennett_X_22_Wake_Ta b_22W_x_9D&amp;str=bennett&amp;merchID=4005">this single plate</a>. They also list a 14" wide one. <BR>I'd pick hydraulic over an electric one is you plan to keep it a long time. <BR>The size you ask for is just about that of the Sanger model by Bennett which you could get through one of their dealers. You would also want to check out the Supra dealers to see what they have. <BR> <BR>You will be very happy when you have switched from a fixed plate to the adjustable one. You want two actuators if you have 20" of width.

That one on overtons looks like what I need, a little pricey though. I checked out ebay and it looks like I might be able to get a pump and two actuators for relatively cheap. I was thinking I could just use my original plate, cut it and weld on a hinge. Any reason why this wouldnt work?

Your hinge needs to be stainless so it's a bit harder to weld. The plate would have to come all the way off. But yes, that's doable. <BR>When you install it the actuators only put it down a small distance below where it is now. The end of the plate would only go down about a quarter inch from where it is now. Most of the travel is up from where it is now. (unless you've already sucked yours up with the turnbuckles) <BR> <BR>The downside is that your plate will have a gap at the joint and you won't have smooth water flow across it.

Chris, Look into the Lenco Trim Tab. It is electric and easy to install vs. the Bennett TT. I had the manual on my Avy, and switched it out with the Lenco 12 X 9. The hole lined up correctly and it looks factory installed. You will love the auto trim tab vs the manual. One thing I did not install is the gauge, but I really didn't need it since I can look back and adjust the wake for the rider and and the size of the person riding. <BR> <BR>I remember a long time ago when everyone was putting down the trim tab, especially the MC guys. But now MC has, not one, but three tabs on there boats now. It is almost standard.

Chris FYI Bennett wrote the book on customer service. Pick up the phone and call them. They will piece and part you out or direct to local vendor as needed. <BR> <BR>The newer Lenco products are very good as well. <BR>Good luck with your project.
