24 SSV - How to make the wake ginormous
 

We recently picked up a Supra 24 SSV. The stock wake is ok. Looking for that ballast set up that makes the wake ginormous. Thanks in advance.

Congrats on the pick up, others with more experience with the boat may chime in with more informative knowledge than I (only had mine for a couple of months last summer), but mine came with 3 of the 1100lbs gravity games bags and the wake is ridiculous big. Lead weight also helps to, just strategically placed throughout the boat.

How full do you get them in the rear locker? You can't get them totally full, can you?

Nah, can't get them completely full, I fill them up until the cushions on both the port and starboard aft seats start to pop up. Generally the wedge that's created between the seating and the storage pushes alot of the water to the back of the bag, so when the seats start to pop up the bags are pretty full, not completely though. Can't put much else in the back storage compartments either, but makes a sick wake.

Fat chicks always make the wake huge :D

I have an 06 and run 2 750# sacks in the rear the factory center sac and another 300 in the bow run around 24 mph and use the wake plate to tweak. This setup works sweet.

10 add 1000 lbs evenly
20 pull rider
30 if boat gets on plane go to 10
40 remove 100lbs evenly
50 if boat doesnt get on plane goto 40
60 you now have giganormous wake.

For a GREAT WAKE, get your girl to invite 14 of her hottest friends along... Keep the bags empty... Take pictures...

There used to be a few articles on Alliance called "Over Weight" that showed how some of the pros weight their boat. I think there were only like 4-5 of them. One was the older style 210, the newer style 210, Gerry Nunn's 23 LSV, and the Supra 24 SSV are the ones that i remember off hand. I tried to search for them but can only find the one for the newer 210, and Nunn's Bu. But it shows just how much weight, where they put it, how fast they ride, and rope length. I remember the Supra having a BUTT LOAD of weight in it (like the rest of them), but the supra had a TON of weight in the bow. that's all i remember. maybe somebody can find that article, i'm having no luck finding it. it was back in like 06 or 07.

I also remember seeing an article in alliance about a trip that a bunch of supra guys took to Ireland. In the pics that 24 SSV was ridin LOW! i remember seeing the full triangle bow bag in the bow, and a huge bag on the floor. It didn't say how it was weighted, but that thing would help. I don't know how they kept the nose out of the water because that thing was inches from the water and it wasn't exactly butter out there.

I'm sorry, i just read the article, It wasn't the newer 210 that was on there. the boats they have on there are the old 210, the 220, the Bu 23 LSV, and the supra 24 SSV. not that it matters because i still can't find the article that has the 24 SSV but just thought i'd fix my mistake.

Got 750's on the way for the rear lockers. I guess I'll use one of the current sacks (or both) in the bow. That'll put the ballast at about 3,400 lbs. Should do the trick. I'll be sure to give some feedback once it's set up. Thanks again for the input.

Where did you get the 750# rear bags? are they gonna be direct fit or you changing the pumps lines exc? Thats the same setup im wanting...

Matt - I got everything from http://www.wakemakers.com. I'm just gonna plug them in to the existing system. Gonna give the current ballast system a shot before I replace it.

Thanx MD, Has anyone used the Fly Hi Vdrive surf sac? 1100# would that be overkill to throw one in each ski locker? with the 1200# center sac?

Cody is runnin' three 1100lb bags in his boat. He said the wake is "ridiculous big."

Matt, 14 hot friends would be sweet, but for the sake of the wake, they need to be big fatties!

For the sake of arguing, If you had 14Hotties +your woman onboard would you be wakeboarding? I know me persionally I'd be crusing the party coves & beaches at a speed just slow enough for everyone to see... Bragging rights mean alot in this sport...

I heard he runs like 4500# in his....and having seen it on the lake in Cleremont...I believe it. At 25mph it still looked like it has not fully planed out. Very nose high.... I also heard that sacked out huge like that...the wake is a little inconsistent. If your water is not perfect (a some wind chop...or just bad water from other boaters)...the wake can get a little inconsistent at the lip...and give you a beat down....

The 750's definately do the trick. I do need some weight up front though. Has anyone used the integrated bow sac that fits under the bow seats? To me there doesn't seem to be enough room to get much weight out of it. I have the sacs I took out of the rear lockers for now, but would like all the ballast hidden.

MD, I'm not sure how you'd get more ballast in the bow and still be able to hide it. I'm sure yours is like mine and under the seat cushions in the bow the seats are sectioned off. I keep my anchor in the furthest foward part of the bow, the other two compartments on the port and starboard sides of the bow are too small for any significant weight, and the center cushion on mine pops up as is when I fill my bow bag.

Cody - that's what I was thinking. I'll prob go with the 400# sac for now and see how that goes.

Geez, I rode behind one with stock ballast and the wake was huge, rampy and solid as a brick wall. Rockin' boat, I'm jealous.

It gets better with the better with more weight schooledrider.

MD, looked at my prop this weekend but I don't remember the exact numbers. I know it was a 14 pitch, I think the exact number on the prop was 4.25 x 14 but I could be wrong, I'll double check again next time I'm down there.

Cody - How much weight do you have up front? Am tetering between the triangle sac and permanent weight (lead, pop bags etc.).

I think it's the 1100lbs bag but it could be bigger, it's whatever came with the boat when I bought it from Trevor. The reason I think it could be bigger is that it pops up the center bow cushion when it's full. I think it's a little bit smaller than my back bags, but I think they could be over 1100lbs. Wish I knew a way to check for sure how big they are hahaha :D

Cody there is a serial number on each bag we can tell you what bag you have from that. My bag in the center is 1100 pounds and it will pop up the center cushion. But last summer I added a vent line that I tee into the drain line, now my center bag vent like the back bags.

So you prob have three 1100 #ers and no extra weight in front? I have 1500 in the rear and 1180 center. With two people in the boat wake is good, but with more I def need extra in bow. Tryin to keep as much seating as possible to keep the wife happy. Experimenting is so much fun.

You could try more in the rear? The ~2200lbs I have in the rear only get in the way when they are completely full because the pop the cushions up in the cabin area.

k. first you need to buy the gravity bags from the dealer. like $600-1000 i think.
1100 in the locker
and they are like 750's in the rear. the rears are long and low so they move more weight up front.
then we put a 750 in the bow
and a 750 on the back seat.
since there is the rear seat behind the drivers, it makes it hard to center a bag, so you almost have to put a sac on the right and left in the middle of the seating area.
that was around 4k lbs plus 2-4 ppl.

on our 21v we ran the gravity bags,
750 in the walk thru right on top of the locker, triangle bag up front with about 500 in it and another 750 on the floor. that's about all it would pull out of the hole.

now i'm riding a friends 07 vlx with 6k lbs, but the 400hp engine and massive prop make it easy. 95ft is so sick

After messing with different configurations, I have found that filling the rear 750's, the senter sac, and adding 300-400 lbs to the bow make a sweet wake running at 23.5 mph +/-.
