Best Ballast set up for Xstar

Surfing a buddies 04 xstar today. I've surfed it several times but I'm looking for the perfect ballast set up. I know they dont surf well compared to other wake boats...

Port side....... 750lbd in back locker with 250lb port full. no front weight and no kgb full. Also we but 400lbs under the port back seat and moved the batteries back about a foot. I have 200lbs of dumbells on the floor in the corner. then if 2 people or one big guy sit on the back locker it is perfect. once the rub rail hits the water it is too low in my opinion and the wake is not as good. Drive about 11.6 to 12mph depending on how it feels. Full tank of gas helps. Xstars have to have a ton of weight because they balance so well. Some of my buddies feel the teak deck is better for suffing then figerglass since the fiberglass sticks out father.

Starboard side is very tough. You need smooth water because any side rollers will bounce the boat and the wake washes out. Same back set up as the port side.....the only difference is not have about 600lb on the front starboard side of the boat and drive at abut 9.4mph. This scenario might not make sense but I have wasted a ton of time messing with the different wakes for the 2003 -2011 xstar hull. Again, the driver needs to be good, and smooth water for starboard.

On my 08 X Star we been experimenting for a couple of seasons on it.. Pretty much have it dialed in.. I have #1100 sacs in the aft compartments.. The X star does not like any KGB or bow weight. It'll wash out.. I put a #450 on the aft seat.. and if we don't have someone to hang on the rear deck, we fill a brick #250 on the platform.. The surf wake is dialed goofy or standard @ 10.8 to 11.2... It'll give the enzo wake a run for the money..

Joe: I think you may have had one to many in your retirement:) Bring the XStar out anytime and we can really compare. Would love to ride with you guys one day, even if you are on the dark side.

This is a crappy iPhone pic with only a driver and all the weight under the seats.

I know Joe and am just messing with him. He is the guy that upgraded the ballast in my 244.

Haha... Figured I'd call out some Enzo guys on this one..:D

I think the Star's goofy side is better than the Enzo's.. But the Standard side is not even close to the Enzo...

Jeff........... Heading out to Lake Conroe for a week tomorrow.. Got a house on the lake, new G P Hero2 and 6 days of non stop surf sets.. Bought a new Triple X Slayer.. Ive been riding heel side and switch lately mainly because the bright side guys don't want to venture to the dark side.. These guys have issues.. lol.:p

Used to ride both sides growing up on ocean breaks..

I give you a shout when we get back.. I'll be needin some schooling from ya'll..:D
