Thinking about stripping the "Hurricane" decal. The flames are in the gelcoat. Think it would look good w/o it? Also, it's an '02 do you all think the hull under the decal will be "more white" than the rest of the hull? What could I do about it?

Take it off.

It may be a little more white, but I doubt it would be too much. Try peeling it slowly at first to get an idea

Give it a buff. It will make it look the same. As long as the rest of the exposed gel goat isn't nasty.

I would definitely take it off. There is a hull cleaner called FSR that will make it all the bright white.

I really suck at this but you get the idea!

Actually, that would definitely look better....clean. Thanks for hooking me up with a visual!

tofasttoslow 02-23-2009 9:32 AM

Trick is use heat. Then clean right away with rubbing alcohol.

ethan31 02-23-2009 4:08 PM

I would use a pinstripe/decal eraser (goes on a cordless drill) . They work awesome and there usually isn't much residue left behind.

tl_hereford 02-23-2009 5:22 PM

I just took off mine with a hair drier and removed sticky stuff with rubbing alcohol. Worked great.

hatepain 02-23-2009 5:58 PM

I didn't even use the hair dryer but it probably would have made it that much easier then goof off to get the residual junk followed by waxing.

kana12 02-23-2009 6:12 PM

dude id take it all off. and have all white. with that tower it would look sweet

cpizzle 02-23-2009 7:16 PM

I'm guessing by the responses that rubbing alcohol works better than acetone. I just replaced one of my "AIR" decals on my Nautique and it was a mess getting the sticky stuff off with acetone.

I am with william... take all the stickers off. Make it all white and tint the windows... it would look like a completely different boat.

newty 02-24-2009 9:13 AM

+1 for all white

krbaugh 02-24-2009 9:38 AM

Centurion Graphics are not just a Sticker so the flames are there to stay

tonyv420 02-24-2009 10:43 AM

Take it off, I took mine off and looks much better. Use a blow dryer and you wont have any sticky left. should come off clean (mine did)

treycleaton 02-24-2009 11:08 AM

Yeah, I wish I could remove any and all graphics. At least the flames aren't over bearing, just near the top of the hull. Thanks for the advice, hair dryer and alchohol it is....

tdiggity 02-25-2009 1:31 PM

sticker shock works pretty good for removing the decals and adhesive. its gelcoat safe , you can get from autozone . Worked on my 15 year old stickers on my malibu pretty well.

tonyv420 02-25-2009 2:15 PM

I actually love the flames, and was glad that they are in the gel coat. Mine also has flames.

sailing216 02-25-2009 3:47 PM

I had a huge Centurion sticker on my boat. Took a heat gun less than 20 minutes to remove. Took most other ones off except the Max Load and Carbon Monoxide stickers.

Heat gun just keep moving back and forth. It'll pull off when it's warm enough. No residue for me, but new boat.
