bremsen 07-31-2007 6:17 PM

those two "go together like chinese food and chocolate pudding"

I'm sure it took a ton of work and money to build and it looks very well crafted....but the whole thing confuses me.

Welcome to WW anyway.

mcwhore 07-31-2007 6:34 PM

I'll say it. Butt ugly and tacky. I'd be embarrassed to ride in that thing. Sorry if that sounds harsh but I want to save you the embarrassment of mobbin that thing.

razzman 07-31-2007 6:40 PM

Well as i'm the one that first posted a pic of this sometime back after a buddy sighted this "thing" at Englebright i just gotta ask, why? I mean i'm all for to each his own but i'm just curious as to the reasoning behind it?

kiraly_74 07-31-2007 6:45 PM

Where is the 8 track.

rio_sanger 07-31-2007 7:01 PM

I'm a Sanger lover from way back, but...

07-31-2007 7:18 PM

i thought it was redneck until i saw the chick painted on the front. then i knew it was redneck.

azwakekid 07-31-2007 7:19 PM

is nice

wakeslife 07-31-2007 7:43 PM

Why the pylon? Isn't that the point of the tower?

tyboarder03 07-31-2007 8:13 PM

Im assuming stripper pole.

ponte_06_x2 07-31-2007 8:21 PM

clearlakescott 07-31-2007 8:23 PM

Rick no one is going to have a why answer for this one not even the guy that owns that thing.

tyboarder03 07-31-2007 8:24 PM

I will say it has to be one of a kind.

07-31-2007 9:15 PM

this boat is just confusing. flames on the speaker box. mermaid on the bow. 5 board racks with seating for just 4(woofers in the rear seat see pic 1). three rope attachment balls. steering wheel is on the wrong side. and the slogan is cocktails and dreams. hom many freakin cocktails did you drink to dream up a POS like this!!!

ralph 07-31-2007 9:15 PM

Its not my taste but if it makes him happy why not! I'm sure a lot of other boaties look at wakeboard boats and shake there heads. Live and let live I say.

wake1823 08-01-2007 6:31 AM

why no nipples on the mermaid, WTF?

malibuboarder75 08-01-2007 6:44 AM

That is awesome! The mermaid looks a little dumb, but man that would be awesome to have and bring to wakeboard events.

iagainsti 08-01-2007 7:33 AM

That looks very top heavy to me... does that thing look like a capsize waiting to happen ?

kirk 08-01-2007 8:13 AM

Roy,
First off, welcome to WW.
Those older Sangers are great boats. I learned to ski behind one.
It looks like you have spent a lot of time and money on your project. Not everyone on here is going to like it, but it looks like you are proud of it so that's the most important thing. For a 63 yr old, it looks like you have your priorities straight...boats and music.
Don't take any of the flames personally...

fatsac 08-01-2007 10:49 AM

Take the tower off and that is one sweet set up. I think the first semi-nudy I ever saw was of a naked lady on a boat. Ahhhh... takes me back.

Like Leo said, this would be a great attention getter at any event.
Can anyone estimate the tower weight?

kenteck 08-01-2007 12:18 PM

all you need now is a couple of these....

talltigeguy 08-01-2007 3:03 PM

I want to see the van that tows that bad boy!

ponte_06_x2 08-01-2007 5:02 PM

it looks like the A team van. it has the window on the sides that look like a bubble. glitter pink and blue stripes on the side in the shape of a wave.

calaman 08-01-2007 7:37 PM

side of the boat should say cocks and dorks
sorry- had to say it.

roybaker 08-01-2007 7:45 PM

Here is the vehicle I tow the Sanger with. It'll do in a pinch.

mhayes 08-01-2007 7:49 PM

So Roy, why don't you give us a little history on the boat? You have to tell us what you were thinking when putting this thing together!

roybaker 08-01-2007 8:10 PM

Ok, so a little history. I'm the original owner of this 1986 Sanger. I had another tower on it last year with 12 speakers on the tower. The audio wasn't what I was wanting. January of this year, I decided to remove the old tower, have a tower custom made with the intentions of putting as many speakers on the tower and also replace the complete stereo system. 7 months and a ton of hours re-doing the boat. Tower is custom made. I along with my co-workers assembled the tower. We completely gel-coated all the BLUE on top of the boat. The Mermaid is done by Ceasar Lopez in Fairfield. The detail of the Mermaid is awesome. Doesn't matter where you stand on the side of the boat, in front or in back, as long as you can see the Mermaid, she is looking into your eyes with her blue eyes. Wanted to do something exotic and unusual. This boat and stereo installation is going to be put on the MTX Web Site and entered into the contest. Never know, might win something. Oh, TONS of MONEY. Even though I'm a Service Manager, this was still very expensive. Thanks for the comments.

wakeslife 08-01-2007 8:13 PM

As long as you're enjoying it thats money well spent!

w00taz 08-01-2007 8:55 PM

Rock on man, great craftsmanship!

jules 08-01-2007 9:30 PM

Hey Roy, how many Cat batteries are you running???

roybaker 08-01-2007 9:45 PM

Batteries: I forgot to include the batteries. I have 8 gel-batteries in the boat. 4 underneath the deck of the boat and 4 more in the back of the boat plus 1 1000 MCA battery for starting. The gel batteries are Interstate SC31DM which have 1130 CCA. All the gel batteries are deep cycle. I have not had any problems running the stereo all weekend. Of coarse as you know, the outboard doesn't have a very good charging system. However, I'm in the process of installing a alternator system from the Mercury Optimax on this 200 XRI. That should help to keep the batteries charged.
.
Roy

ponte_06_x2 08-01-2007 9:47 PM

roy. will you be at the neptunes show at lost isle?

westsiderippa 08-01-2007 9:51 PM

looks like roy has a couple biskets in his boat up top. it must be workin for him. rock on roy man, rock on.

flip360 08-01-2007 10:16 PM

Roy, what about a close up of the LADY on the bow!!!

ttrigo 08-02-2007 11:05 AM

you would probably pull more "Biscuit" (?) if you towed with this bad daddy.

05mobiuslsv 08-02-2007 11:39 AM

Roy I'm sure you get alot of looks in that thing, and not in a good way..

pcoak 08-02-2007 11:45 AM

why

otiswunguy 08-02-2007 4:52 PM

Just curious if your insurance will cover any damage to that boat. I am sure that the tower, speakers and amps put you over the max capacity for that boat. It is way too top heavy to be safe on the water.

roybaker 08-02-2007 7:43 PM

I have the boat insured heavily. No, the boat is not TOP heavy. All the speaker boxes are FIBERGLASS and the tower if very light weight. Keep in mind that i put 8 gel batteries (4 in front and 4 in rear) to help maintain the stereo system. So ballast is just right. Oh, I have a houseboat also and so I know weight distribution and how important it is.
.
GIRLS - Just to let everyone know, the 2 girls in the boat is my grand daughters. There 15 and enjoying the boat and music.
.
Oh, one more thing. People ask me WHY. Just like anything else, you want to expand the max out the envelope. I think we accomplished it. The boat is being entered into the MTX installer's contest. You might look at some of the stereo system's on the MTX Web Site.
.
www.mtx.com

Thanks. Roy - Owner of the Sanger.

ponte_06_x2 08-02-2007 7:48 PM

ill give you props roy. even though its not my cup of tea. i can appreciate the work that is involved.

roybaker 08-04-2007 5:23 AM

New Sub Woofer Amplifier. Had to increase the amplifier and install a 1500 watt sub amp.

Roy

99sportster 08-04-2007 8:54 AM

Why....because Roy looks like Doc from "Back to the Future" and he thinks his boat stereo should have 1.21 Gigawatts.

Why does it have both a tower and a pole...to transfer energy from a lightning strike to the flux capacitor!

roybaker 08-04-2007 3:35 PM

Ok Guys & Gals: Question is: Why do I have 3 ski points on the boat to pull skier's?
.
Answer: Big Pole is for Air Chair's. Tower is for Wakeboarding. Ski point in the center is actually the same height that the bare foot ski pole is so this is used to pull skier's, tubes and etc. Thanks for the comments.

Roy - Owner

hatepain 04-11-2013 9:04 PM
