Anyone riden behind one of these yet? If so how is the wake compared to the B52 23V? What is the cost going to be on one of these fully loaded with trailer? Any info would be appreciated.

dansmith 10-26-2008 5:07 PM

Keep an eye out for more info. We had one out today and the people riding behind it either own a B52 V23 or ride behind one most of the time. <BR> <BR>I didn't take a set, but first impression from those who did was it was more vertical than the V23. <BR> <BR>It looked like a damn MB convention... <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639638.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639639.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639640.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639641.jpg" alt="Upload">

Looks windy...mixed on the tower.

ridininmd 10-26-2008 7:43 PM

that is one ugly mug driving the Caddy

srh00z 10-26-2008 7:48 PM

That is a nice looking MB. The graphics are clean and the lines of the hull look good. I like the tower. Looks like a Titan Series 3 on some level.

johnsvt 10-26-2008 7:49 PM

^^^agreed doesn't that guy ever smile

mattjj23 10-26-2008 8:29 PM

Thanks for the pics. The hull looks a lot different than the V23. I may have to trade my V23 in for this.

Here are my pics from yesterday. <BR> <BR>Dan, did you get the shot of Minter going way out in to the flats? <BR> <BR>BTW, 2-3 people in the boat, factory ballast only. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639788.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639789.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639790.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639791.jpg" alt="Upload">

Wakeboard wake looks good but what's up with the wash? Surf wake doesn't look very good but maybe would with some weight.

alans 10-27-2008 7:40 AM

This wake has absolutely zero wash. I could get it down to about 17.8 on the Zero-off and it stayed clean. The wakesurf wake is huge and has great shape, the picture is no good. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by alans on October 27, 2008)

I got some nice Chase boat shots &amp; will post them up tonight. <BR> <BR>Sorry I didn't get a set in, but I had to get home by 3:30. Temps are forecast for upper 60s later this week if you can get out again. I'd like to transfer my 400lbs of lead &amp; see what that does to the wake.

05mobiuslsv 10-27-2008 9:01 AM

Alan pictures 2 and 3 of your post?

alans 10-27-2008 9:24 AM

Yea, I would not consider that wash. The rider is cutting from the other side and causing a momentary spash on the opposite wake. Examples below, all great wakes <BR> <BR>Malibu 23 LSV <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639875.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>Epic v23 <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639876.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>Super Air 210 <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/639877.jpg" alt="Upload">

wakereviews 10-27-2008 1:36 PM

well post something.. haha! at least a pic of your boat.

fbroen 10-27-2008 1:36 PM

Looks like fun. <BR> <BR>"2-3 people in the boat, factory ballast only" --looks pretty nice. What is stock ballast in this one? <BR> <BR>Second riding pic looks like rider got a mohawk. <BR> <BR>In my experience, the comment on landing side wake wash seems to always come from a BU owner. Rampy does not fall over very easily... <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0>

26lacefield 10-27-2008 1:55 PM

the wake looks good. i rode behind the mini tomcat in one of the DRA's here in cali and wasn't too big of a fan. it didn't seem very consistant and was a little small. the wide body looks good. i wouldn't mind taking a set on it. i'm not bashing the 21 tomcat either just giving my opinion.

johnsvt 10-27-2008 4:09 PM

Toe 5 or half cab 3 on the last pic of JP? <BR> <BR>FB my opp wake usually washes out when a rider is cutting. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by johnsvt on October 27, 2008)

talltigeguy 10-27-2008 4:38 PM

Is is just me, or does it look like there is a lot of bow rise? The driver does not have view directly in front of him at wakeboarding speeds. From the side shots, it looks like the driver's head is lower than the nose of the boat, although it seems to not look like that from behind. <BR> <BR>What do you guys think who drove the boat? I really wish that you had a decent MB dealer in Utah. Once a few years ago I called the dealer and they seemed completely ignorant of wakesurfing and watersports in general. I felt like the high priority was selling an I/O. <BR> <BR>BTW, those are great pics with the leaves changing and all around the lake. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by talltigeguy on October 27, 2008) <BR> <BR>(Message edited by talltigeguy on October 27, 2008)

As the driver, you never lose the sight of the horizon at any point from takeoff to wakeboard speed. The pictures are deceiving.

driverlost 10-27-2008 7:31 PM

I got to drive this boat for a significant amount of time yesterday. I own a B52V23. <BR> <BR>Re: Bowrise <BR>If you flip the seat booster up, then you have no problem at all with bow rise. I like to sit deep and noticed the bow rise was an issue from start to around 11-12 mph (zero off is very accurate), then it settled down fine from there. It is worth noting, this boat had the zr6 engine in it, which gave it a nice boost in power. <BR> <BR>Re: wake shape <BR>This boat and the V23 are not very similar. My only set came in very windy conditions, but I would say the 21' stock ballast (1800lbs) creates a much steeper wake. It was plenty clean and solid too. Edging inside out, the wake seemed much taller than the V23 at stock ballast. All of us agreed it was wider at 80 feet. <BR> <BR>Re: Drive and handling <BR>Boat drives like a sports car compared to the V23. In fact, the whole feel/looks of the interior is much sportier. The boat feels nimble on plane and handled double ups much nicer (imo) too. Just a really solid all around boat. <BR> <BR>Re: Storage <BR>I am not sure about this. I love the storage compartments in the V23. Ours are full all summer long since we have kids and their toys on board most times out. The 21' cuts out a ton of rear storage space. The deeper hull on the 21' allows for board storage under the seats, and the spaces under the glove box and drivers leg room are much deeper on the 21. There is an impressive amount of interior space on the 21. We had four guys on board at the end of the day and gear strewn about. At that moment, it did feel a little more cramped than having 4 guys on the V23.

ronbo 10-27-2008 7:45 PM

I own a 09 F-21 Tomcat. I was told about this boat when it was under early construction. From what I understand the haul is Exactly the same as the f-21 Tomcat from the windshield back. I would imagine the wake is the same depending on the weight difference of the nose. I agree, the wake is very nice.

We are taking the B-52v Team Widebody out again and probably for the last time this season today. Anyone want to see anything in particular? We will have 4-5 people and a few hundred lbs of pop bags.

I would like to see a good picture of the surf wake if you guys are surfing today. I just sold my 2004 MB B52 and I loved the surf wake with that wicked new hull the wake should be a monster.

I'm kind of curious how the v8 4Runner does pulling a 3900# boat+trailer+gear.

alans 11-02-2008 3:09 AM

I love the 4-runner as a tow vehicle. I bought it to replace an '06 Z71 Tahoe and it tows every bit as well. I towed over 100k miles in the last two years with an '06 350 and '08 350 Dually, both diesel, and I am still extremely impressed with the 4 Runner. However, I only towed about 15k with it so far this year. <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>FYI, with the towing and leveling kit, the capacity is 7,300 lbs.

Surfing with shoes?

alans 11-08-2008 5:37 AM

Yep. We didn't have any of our wake surfers with us but we had an old surfboard that we put grip tape on that we used for surfing back in the day before wake surfers.
