so trying the tantrum has been an interesting experience. When tripping before poping makes the trick so much easier, and if i drop the rope i can get around and stick it. However when I manage to not drop the rope, the nose of my board hits it stopping all rotation and causing me to do crash in head first exactly half way. Where should i have the rope when leaving the wake.

Hey Douglas, how painful is that crash? I have to admit that its exactly that position (head first) that is keeping me from attemptin a tantrum so far.

Also, how fast are you going and what is the minimum speed to serously make an attempt at a tantrum?

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread. You just hit on a sticking point for me too.

Douglas, your problem most likely is cause by your cut, not your rope position. You need to make sure that you make an abrupt enough edge change so that your shoulders are square to the wake on takeoff. it sounds to me that you aren't square so you are throwing the flip a little backwards rather than in the direction of the second wake. Try to exxaggerate your edge change and square up to the wake, and you will see a difference. To answer your original questions, the rope should be where it always should be....near your hip, or as close as you can manage.

word, thanks alot, just got back and that was it. Thanks alot still alittle squirrly on the landings but much better. Thanks again

No problem....if you feel squirrely on the landings, make sure that you ar spoting them early. Look for a place on the downslope of the second wake and try and put your board on it, and then land edging away.
