Hey guys, I just bought a universal big air pylon from their site, and was jsut wondering who else has one and how it is installed. <BR>How does it drill in? <BR>How does it clip onto the side of the boat? <BR>Thanks for any advice!

I have one. If you're talking about drilling for the base plate, there is almost no load put onto it, so you just pre-drill the holes and then put the screws in. It clips in the back to 2 D-rings that come with it. The best place to mount these are on the top of the transom or near the transom on the gunnels(sp?). In the front, the cables clip to a strap that runs down under the bow to the.. [bow eye?] and back up.

Is it hard t odrill the holes? and how long did it take you to install?

It isn't hard to drill the holes, you just use a regular electric drill with the specified bit(I don't know the size, it says in the packet). Drilling the holes for the D-rings has to be in the gel coat, so if it is a valuable boat, I've heard to drill in reverse. We didn't because, well, our boat is REALLY old, and really couldn't care less if the gel coat were cracked. To install, it took maybe 40 minutes. To adjust properly to our boat, maybe a half an hour.

i have a big air tower. was outta town and my dad and bro did it for me. drilling in the boat was the easiest part. they assembled the legs of the tower. hardest thing to do is drill holes into the aluminum legs for the bolts. you'll need a more powerful drill, bits and perhaps some lubricant (so you don't burn up your bits). but since install, have had no problems. does the job and love it. my only thing, is i wish i would of put it further back. but that's my fault not the company's.
