"Culture Crisis" instead of a "Health Care Crisis".

Hey I just passing on this E-mail I got. I didn't Snope's it because it dosen't matter if its real or not because IMO its 100% true.

Pictured below is a young physician by the name of Dr. Starner Jones. His short two-paragraph letter to the White House accurately puts the blame on a "Culture Crisis" instead of a "Health Care Crisis". It's worth a quick read:
https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&i....1&disp=emb&zw
Dear Mr. President:
During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of
tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.
While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.
And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture", a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me".
Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.
Respectfully,
STARNER JONES, MD

No No No . Let's get it straight this MD is a racist . G this is the norm in the county hospitals. It's killing the hospitals because they are only getting reimbursed 7-8% on medicaid. Do you know how much the hospitals are getting reimbursed for self pay? 7-8% also.

Dennis, you are just retarded. This is exactly the problem. I don't care what they get paid, but I do think that anyone who can pay for all the "other" stuff should have buy health insurance for themselves if they want taken care of. If not, don't go to the hospital. You can't walk into a store and take a thing of bread and tell them "oh I will pay for it tomorrow" or "oh someone else will pay for it" that is THEFT. SO IT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hate those type of people that expect the "system" to take care of them! GET A FREAKIN LIFE !

Scott i am being sarcastic. You are right!! This is why all the hospitals are going broke across the border. We have a 400 # plus patient in our hospital that original weight was 500# plus that has a trachostomy that we have kept for a year and can't get rid . Who is paying for him? Mostly the hospital. The hospitals along the border are loosing so much money ..

deneng 05-27-2010 10:21 AM

I spoke with the CEO at our hospital and all they can do is refuse to take medical patients unless they get more reimursement, but who does that cost? The taxpayer. And costs still go up to run a hospital so as soon as the hospitals get more reimbursement they are in the same hole again.

lol sorry Dennis, guess I just didn't get the sarcasm. Yeah as you can tell I am not for people cheating the system. I hate stupid people, lazy people, just plain ignorant people. ugggg anyone have a beer. I need one now....damn thread got me going.

deneng 05-27-2010 10:38 AM

Ha Ha Ha. Man it is sick/sad. I am afraid that someday our health care is gonna go down the toilet if they don't fix it. Here is a beer on me..

Poor guy. He is gonna be paying 50-60% of his income in taxes and working his ass off. I hope he finds something in life that makes him happy.

"This guy won't last long if he's already pissed off considering he is class of 2010..."

It's amazing. I have seen this letter a few times in various emails, but each time the same exact words are authored by a different MD. Coincidence or BS?
