Hey, I remember when I first started wakeboarding awhile back, and started jumping
and realized I naturally started doing toeside jumps first, did anybody else do this, or did you all start heelside jumps also? just something out of random curiosity

I would say from the beginners we've taught, it seems like maybe 1 out of 6-7 tends to jump toeside more naturally at the very beginning. More like 1 of 20 or so stays more comfortable TS as they progress though.

-Steve

My guess about first-timers starting with toeside jumps, is that they naturally drift to the toe side of the boat, after getting up . . . so the first attempts at crossing back over the wake will be the on the toe side. The easiest edging technique is leaning backwards, against the tension of the rope . . . once comfortable, then they tend towards the heel side, since the cutting motion is leaning backwards against the tension in the rope. My $0.02 worth.

Cheers.

Do you snowboard? I often find that really good snowboarders favor their toeside edge since that is the more dominant edge in snowboarding.

nah, I got heelside down, but i prefer toeside anything because im more confortable with it. heelside just feels like im jumping backwards, it feels weird.

I felt that way in the beginning, but toeside feels weird now.

I feel more comfortable on my heelside, but i have more tricks on my toeside. My girlfriend started to do toeside jumps first also. If you can do both along with switch it opens a lot of doors.

Ya, I ride goofy and I always felt more comfortable on the right side of the wake skiing so I naturally went to it did toeside jumps first. Now I'm more comfortable heelside.
