supra forums?

Anyone know what the story is on the Supra forum? Hasn't worked for me in several days. Are others having the same problem?

jmvotto 07-07-2011 8:13 PM

moomba forum is down too as well as the skiers choice site:confused:

brainrinse 07-07-2011 9:02 PM

The servers got hacked. They are in the process of building a new server and were hoping to have it done today but...

viking 07-07-2011 9:40 PM

Hello Hello ............. bummed myself. Been trying to access for a few days and found them both to be down. Fancy finding you over hear :)

rdlangston13 07-08-2011 12:21 AM

yeah i was trying to use my iphone to get on the moomba forum last night and was having no such luck. glad to know it is not the phone!

rickt 07-08-2011 7:29 AM

Yes, our servers are down/hacked. Our web group is working on it. Hopefully late today.....

Apologies,

Rick Tinker

wotan 07-08-2011 7:36 AM

Fingers crossed that they had a backup. Too much good info on those boards to be lost. :(

mark197 07-08-2011 8:23 AM

ED what did you do!!!

In all seriousness hopefully they get up and running soon, I need my daily fix.

ed_g 07-08-2011 9:57 AM

ya know, I was telling someone today...

"bet the board has been hacked again and when it comes back on, it will be missing 100's of posts and my name will be mentioned :)"

Oh well, it gives us Moderators a little vacation.

tyler97217 07-08-2011 10:15 AM

I have been trying to get on for several days too. Let us know when it is back up.

cadunkle 07-08-2011 10:16 AM

Thanks for the update.

4Nash 07-08-2011 12:21 PM

Yeah, I figured this might be the case. Been trying to access it for a few days. Was looking for the thread on how to weight the DD for wakesurfing...I've got about 1500 pounds in the boat and although I have a big wake the pocket is really short and there doesn't seem to be any real push to it...

newmy79 07-08-2011 12:25 PM

Oh wow, didn't know they were down. Good to know though, let us know when they're back up.

Sent with my Droid Incredible using Tapatalk. Please excuse any typos.

ed_g 07-08-2011 1:39 PM

Erik, post your question here on the WW wakesurfing forum.

All the experts and pro's are over there.

jmvotto 07-08-2011 2:17 PM

I figured it was a new axis owener who hacked it. JUst kidding:D

Now we can all have a moomba /supra chat right here.;)

07-08-2011 2:38 PM

Apparently wakeboarder.com is down as well.

Man, I hope all the stuff on the Supra forums aren't gone. That was a wealth of info.

tazz3069 07-08-2011 4:55 PM

I was wondering what happened as well. Good to hear that it is getting fixed.

HAHAHA I know what this means LOL

whelchel86 07-30-2011 9:15 AM

So, I'm guessing the servers are down again?

matt75 07-30-2011 11:28 PM

No kidding. They need a different IT staff/host. That's horrible. I work in IT and the 4+ days it took to fix the first time was unacceptable.

mmobius2001 07-31-2011 4:34 AM

agreed

ed_g 07-31-2011 5:40 AM

I bet $2 that it has somthing to do with the unveiling of the 2012 line-up...which is supposed to happen today.

perhaps a redesigned website is in the works

besides, we can't demand a community forum - be thankfull we have what we have.

e

rdlangston13 07-31-2011 6:55 AM

Ed, the website itself is not down, just the forum part.

ed_g 07-31-2011 7:35 AM

yep, thanks.

I can get on the Supra Website, but not Moomba.com

jmvotto 07-31-2011 12:54 PM

moomba site has been up the whole time the forum has been down.

I wanna see this new boat asap.:(

Off topic, my girls went out today with Russ Wilde for coaching, very cool floating and watching him teach. he demo'ed yesterday in front of our lake house, not bad for an old guy;)

brainrinse 07-31-2011 3:29 PM

Another forum hack... hopefully it's back soon. If not hopefully someone gets all the new boat info posted over here Monday night!

razzman 07-31-2011 4:51 PM

Why is it that the SC sites seem to be the only ones suseptable to hacks? This is the third time that I know off, If I was SC I would be looking at another provider that can host the sites with better security protocols.

cadunkle 07-31-2011 6:02 PM

I work in IT too, for a government defense contractor... If any of our stuff got hacked, well heads would roll and I'd be grilled. If it became a pattern, with downtime measured in days, not minutes or hours I'd be fired for incompetence and lack of preparation. Don't even get me started on potential data loss... Not sure what SC has that would be all that valuable data to steal though.

matt75 07-31-2011 8:33 PM

BUT, when you pay for hosting or host yourselves with an IT staff/consultant- I'd expect someone to know what they're doing. I'd lose the client for more than a 1/2 day of downtime.

docdrs 08-01-2011 1:42 PM

they must all be out boating and having fun and will get to it tuesday......lets go use our boats :)

foxriverat 08-02-2011 3:30 AM

Seems like every other time the forum was down. Skiers choice web site was also down. Everything seems to work accept the supra and moomba forums. I hope they didnt decide to pull the plug on the forums.

docdrs 08-02-2011 5:43 AM

There was alot of good stuff in the moomba forum

cadunkle 08-02-2011 6:03 AM

If they did decide to stop hosting forums, it wouldn't be difficult for one of us to set up our own. The question becomes would it be best to absorb those forums into another forum such as WW or would it be best to create a new one? It would surely be more reliable and we could probably do something about all the spam. It shouldn't require a lot of processing power or bandwidth if we're not hosting pictures and such. I've hosted similar things before on cable connections with little solid state micro ATX boxes. It would be a shame to lose all the information and posts in the SC forums though.

razzman 08-02-2011 7:07 AM

A forum without pitures is useless. There's plenty of acceptable options available.

wotan 08-02-2011 7:45 AM

I'd be more than happy to host the forums. I've got plenty of resources to do so. Let's give Supra a few days and if it seems dead we will try to work with Rick (or someone?) to try and get a SQL dump of the data.... This would be easy enough to bring back into a new board.

Or... start from scratch. :(

cadunkle 08-02-2011 8:42 AM

I didn't say no pictures, just not internally hosted. Photobucket and similar services allow you to store many high quality pictures which can be linked and displayed in threads. I never cared for forums with internally hosted pictures anyhow as there are always limits on the number that can be hosted, the quality, and often you must be registered/logged in to see them.

tazz3069 08-02-2011 9:34 AM

I think the Planetnautique.com web site is down also. This morning, it was running very slow and now I can not log in

brainrinse 08-02-2011 12:20 PM

Mark, you've got no business on the nautique site anyway. :)

docdrs 08-02-2011 2:01 PM

I just got word the forums are being updated but no date on when they will be back up running

viking 08-03-2011 3:37 PM

bummed

I had a few minutes to get updated on the moomba and supra forums and found out today that they are both down again :(

Can't they get updated or hacked on a day when I'm too busy??

razzman 08-03-2011 4:32 PM

Again another week down, totally unacceptable imo. I've never heard of a site being hacked or otherwise where it took a week or more to restore. Obviously they've never heard of redundancy, someone at SC should look that up in the dictionary!

jmvotto 08-03-2011 7:47 PM

maybe david is doing it so we all come over here. ha ha lol. seriously its getting bad and i am getting the shakes. timing was certainly bad with the new line up release.

Well, in their defense, how long did it take Sony's Playstation Network to recover from being hacked? Months? They also may be preparing the 2012 site, which could be part of the reason things are acting up.

rickt 08-04-2011 6:51 AM

Our web contractor is working on it. Definite hack again. Going for a stronger fix this time. Which will take more time. Sorry

The 2012's are out on Moomba...facebook. Will update Supra very soon. Doing our photoshoot this week.

Rick

wotan 08-04-2011 8:22 AM

Rick -- Thanks for the update! Glad to hear they are mending things....

It might be time to consider a new web contractor. Downtime even for very large sites is usually measured in minutes rather than weeks.

pwo 08-04-2011 8:35 AM

Not to mention something like a vbulletin install is pretty straightforward and shouldn't be anywhere near this much trouble to configure & be kept up to date.

andrewjet 08-04-2011 11:18 AM

I need my fix too! Its been down like for 2-wks now. Its the slow season for the forum Im sure they are redoing it. HURRY UP!! lol. Jet

whats up guys!!

sunsport22v 08-04-2011 11:29 AM

I have not been able to get in all week either. I have PMs I need to respond too - :( Hopefully will be back up by the end of the week.

dusty2221 08-04-2011 11:31 AM

it's def. been to long.

08-04-2011 3:53 PM

I got burnt out on my Supra, and just sold it. I should have stayed motivated.

whelchel86 08-04-2011 4:26 PM

^^ Haha, Haugy made a funny. I bet you are working on the V-drive conversion as we speak.

jonyb 08-04-2011 6:01 PM

haugy, you'd better hope Mikey doesn't come on here and get offended about that statement!

sunsport22v 08-04-2011 9:41 PM

Supra's customer service is awful on their BBS. When calling them directly it has been better, but not exceptional. The dealer is essential for Supra.

Haugy - I just sold my Supra too. Went with a Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV. I love it. This boat jumps out of the water!

jonyb 08-04-2011 11:07 PM

Can't agree more, Martin.

wotan 08-05-2011 7:50 AM

I can't fault them for that. They don't make a dime off the BBS and lately it's been nothing but headaches for them. Supra is good at making boats. They seem to be somewhat marginal at building a brand and facilitating a community of boat owners. It's less than perfect, but it's understandable given that they have focused their resources on the pieces of the business that represent $$$$$. They have built a business around a dealer network and ask them to do the community building. As long as the dealers are happy -- the website need only be a catalog.

08-05-2011 10:53 AM

Actually I was kidding. I have not sold my Supra. There will always be a Supra in my stable. Always. If I was a millionaire I'd have some other brands. But my Supra does me just fine.

stinky_1 08-05-2011 6:19 PM

Here I thought that SC just decided to ditch the forum all together. Its been so full of spam lately.

I agree with tapatalk. I hope they are throwing that in while they are at it!

John - Hopefully you can get out of your Supra ... and to something new. The main thrust for me to get rid of mine is that we wanting something bigger, but the problems we had a few months ago was the last straw for my wife, she wanted a new boat. (You might have read that on Supraboats.com/bbs.)

I fault them. Supra NEVER responds the boards. I cannot see how that can be a headache.

Furthermore, as a catalog, the web site is horrible. Have you looked at how many errors there are? It looks like they finally fixed (after years) of the interior pictures not matching to what is actually selected.

The only thing I think is great about the web site is the pricing configuration tool - which is basically a catalog.

jonyb 08-05-2011 6:38 PM

I've spent so much time repairing mine and making it into something that fits that I don't want to start over, or lose money on something else.

Wotan, a manufacturer's web forum should be a tool for the company to take advice and learn what the CONSUMER wants, or how to make their product better. If they just stick to building boats, where's the customer service? People that buy their boats don't have a fair chance at giving feedback to the company through a dealer because the dealer could either take it seriously or brush it off. Some of the dealers I've dealt with (with other manufacturers as well, not just Supra) don't really give a ****. Yes, there are some that care, not all are like that. All manufacurer's have their flaws, but to me what makes that company stand above the rest is how they listen to the consumer's, whether it be on the internet, the phone (that most of them don't answer), or through a dealer.

jonyb 08-05-2011 6:40 PM

As for the website, I completely agree with Martin, the site is horrible. Last time I looked at the site at boat pictures, there were maybe 5 pictures of the interior that made anything visible. Until you see a boat in person, you have no idea how their built. The closest dealer to me for ANY wakeboat is more than 2 hours away. That's why the internet, AND WEB FORUMS, are so valuable.

mmandley 08-05-2011 11:27 PM

I spoke with Kurt who is the Forum admin guy, he said the SC sites are undergoing massive upgrades and new servers and such. He said hes sorry for the delay and the sites should be active again soon.

Mike

jmvotto 08-06-2011 6:18 AM

thanks for the update mike.

walb0244 08-09-2011 4:54 AM

Progress Being Made

The forum is still down but with the Moomba forum if you go to the site it will take you to a new page. It is still under construction but it isn't giving the same error it was before. So progress is slowly being made. Sweet. I can't wait.

lavinder 08-11-2011 9:24 AM

Supra Forums are up this morning.

wotan 08-11-2011 9:40 AM

I'm not seeing any supra forums. Maybe you meant moomba forums?

TheSqueakyWheel 08-11-2011 9:44 AM

supra forums went live last night

wotan 08-11-2011 10:33 AM

Oh...I wonder if they changed the DNS and it hasn't fully propagated, yet. I'm still seeing the old site/forums and they are not up.

tyler97217 08-11-2011 11:01 AM

I had to refresh my browser and then I saw it, but at first I was not able to see that it was up.
