My husand and I just bought a new boat and are dying to get out(too cold in Montana). Any one know if any of those lakes would be ok the first weak of December and which would be the warmest?
They will all be friggin cold. Powell will be the worst. You'll probably find alot more wind @ Havasu & Mead. Powell will have places to hide but will probably have snow on the mountains around it (if it's a normal year). Go to Florida if ya want warm.
If your from Montana you might be able to dip in December at Havasu. I have seen it so I belive it. A little cold water doesn't hurt anybody.
currently 75* water temp in Mead right now...last weekend only had a rashguard on...this weekend...the rashguard again

and i think i need to defend mead on the whole " wind" issue ....everytime we want to ride there it always seems to be a light wind on the lake and the last 3 times this winter it has been glass all day

oh well, more lake for us, as if it isnt big enough already
Midwesty stop lying! Mead is horrible this time of the year. Everyone should just stay away!
Last year I was in Havasu in the middle of dec. and it was awesome. 90 degrees for the 4 days we were there. A bit unusual, even for Arizona. The water was cold, but it was warm enough outside, so it was OK.
I was at lake mohave last weekend (mid lake) and the water was 65.
I rode Mead in December a couple years ago. Water temp 56, air 60. Butta all day!!!
Going to Mohave next weekend, will let you know the conditions.

Romi - other than temp, how was Mohave?
I'll let the pictures speak....

http://jeremyhowes.com/images/LakeMohave-Nov05/
How deep was Mojave? I know on the river by Laughlin it gets really shallow.
romi, looks like you were up towards the basin (cottonwood). You gotta admitt that it's not like that very often (even in summer). I grew up skiing at Mohave. Parents still live there and that is not a typical day this time of year.
We had a Labor day weekend like that...3 weeks later we nearly sunk the boat.
Jeremy, Mohave is at it deepest about 100 ft.

Noti, your right... we were there in Sept and the wind was gnarly..
