just wondering what projects everyone had in mind for there boats this winter. I plan to re-do my interior and maybe put some life into my trailer

bear 10-15-2006 7:32 PM

heater install

skier12 10-15-2006 7:52 PM

Fully automatic ballast install, rebuilding the back bench because of the previous project, heater repair, 4 new speakers, rebuilding the trailer breaks and then if theres time left some gelcoat buffing. I guess it's a good thing we have a long winter in CT.

technarider 10-15-2006 9:50 PM

stereo install, interior fix, trailer fix, interior storage

skier12 10-16-2006 5:12 AM

I just got this boat. Besides I like doing the projects and I got a great deal on the boat. I love the fact that when I'm done my boat will throw a better wake than my friends 02 Mobuis LS and I'll have spent way less.

* Build a pair of sub-woofer boxes.
* Install the heater that's sitting on my living room stairs.
* Change the oil (grin)
* Physical Therapy on the knee.
* Temperature data logger for the engine compartment. One that fires off text-messages to my cell phone if the temperature drops below 'x' degrees. I have a hard time trusting a $35 space heater.

Nothing fancy. I have some wood rot in my passenger seat I intend to take care of before it becomes an issue. There's also a small leak that may may be outdrive related. It's not the end of the world, but it is preventing me from leaving my boat in the water overnight and I don't want to hose the gimbal bearing or u-joint if it's a bellows issue.

Project boat: 2001 Tigé 21V
*Filling the Spray pockets.
*Replace the tower with a Monster tower.
*Towerspeakers
*Stereo and amp install
*Fully automatic ballastsystem, 4 Jabsco pumps, 2 rearsacs 400lbs each. 1 center sack 700 lbs and 1 bow sack 800 lbs.
*Replace all faria gauges
*Install PerfectPass
*Some interior fixes

CT isnt too far from jersey, so im kinda looking forward to the winter, i hate saying that but i theres a lot of little stuff i need to take take care of also ex/thumpin stereo, ballast, prop, and if i can get enough money over the winter maybe perfect pass, that might come in the summer though

10-17-2006 9:34 PM

fiberglass sub enclosure. i did some glassing over the summer and screw that. ill wait till its cooler and the resin doesnt set up in 30 seconds.
need a new head gasket too

norcalmalibu 10-17-2006 9:56 PM

Fredrik, how do you plan to fill in your spray pockets? I understand alot of wakeboats have done away with them. But from a safety aspect dont you think the engineers of Tige put them there for a reason? What if the boat uses the spray pockets for tracking purpose or stablization at high speeds?

himain10ance 10-17-2006 11:00 PM

all new fiberglass walls, heated seats all that kind of stuff

tparider 10-17-2006 11:09 PM

amp rack
new batteries mounted and wired

skier12 10-18-2006 5:30 AM

Scott,
What u mean by all new fiberglass walls? The heated seats sounds like a great idea. It would tough gettin me out of the drivers seat on the cold days.

I'm hoping to finish my boat restoration. which includes seperating the deck from the hull. replacing stringers, replacing floor, putting down new carpet, designing an observers seat, new upholstry, new tower, perfect pass, Engine tune up, add brakes to trailer, make prop guard for trailer, install new throttle cable (before perfect pass goes in) and lube steering cable.
That's it, nothing major.

Just bought an Epic Sx in Utah Salt Lake City and shipped it back to Ireland and bought it with water in the oil. So we have been busy running tests to see if we need to strip the engine. Turns out we need to strip the Lexus LS 400
Have just stripped engine and found cracks in both heads. Bought a second hand engine and we are busy rebuilding the original and putting the new heads on it.
We are also installing perfect pass new sounds, Amp, Speakers, head unit etc.

denverd1 10-18-2006 8:08 AM

finish the stereo install. 1 JL 12", tower speakers and 8 in the boat. 3 amps.

jon4pres 10-18-2006 8:16 AM

Matt, your profile has a beautiful 05 x star. What boat are you trying to fix?

I have redo the lights on my trailer. I need to get some lead, a new prop would be nice, and powdercoat the tower.

byrd 10-18-2006 8:37 AM

Keep Boarding....Maybe make a few "adjustments" on the stereo.

hyperlite7572 10-18-2006 4:51 PM

new stereo, and pulling the engine and dressing it up.

klpnautique 10-18-2006 9:12 PM

Man, the list got long QUICK.....

1.Change the oil.
2.Change the tranny fluid.
3.Re-upholster the front passenger seat bottom.
4.Make a new bimini top off of old one's pattern.
5.Detail trailer. (It is a mess)
6.Fix dented fender from previous owner.
7.Lightly sand and oil deck.(Thankfully that was one of last winters projects)
8.Take apart skylon, polish aluminum racks, and have a buddy sand, paint, and airbrush something "fun" on the pole, like death.
9.Figure out how to run a hot shower using a heat exchanger and my current pump system.

I am so glad winter is almost here.....

ldr 10-19-2006 7:26 AM

That was my parents, now they have an 06 X. My wife and i live 2 hours away and we wanted one for ourselves so we found something really cheap on craigslist and decided to get some sweat equity out of it. Here's the link if you haven't seen it before.
http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/330387.html

21v_swe 10-19-2006 8:59 AM

Nate: Tige removed the spray pockets in 2003.. otherwise it's the same hull. They put them there to make the wake better for skiing..

What I've heard is that except from making the wake a lot better it also makes the boat handle better when you fill them..
