230

jarrod 03-30-2009 7:40 AM

Watch the video in the main board of Rusty hitting X-Star double ups. Need I say more?

If wake quality is first, it's an easy decision.

sinkoumn 03-30-2009 7:47 AM

230 or X-Star

tomcat22 03-30-2009 7:51 AM

wakebrdr38 03-30-2009 9:24 AM

230 is awesome.

polarbill 03-30-2009 9:31 AM

Dave, you may want to consider a 23LSV if you are looking at the 230 SAN. It would be more comparable and is a great boat with a great wake.

That being said every boat you listed is awesome. Buy the one you/your parents like the best. Which way are you guys leaning right now?

wakemikey 03-30-2009 9:39 AM

Thanks for the boat dad

psudy 03-30-2009 10:07 AM

So the kids supposed to feel bad because his dad is buying a boat? Most people get their start growing up with parents that like boating. Don't flame him for it.

(Message edited by psudy on March 30, 2009)

wake77 03-30-2009 10:15 AM

Wakecraft, fo sho.

lakemiltonwake08 03-30-2009 10:23 AM

Well after testing all of them you should have a clear decision on which one you like best. But my vote goes to the 230.

wakemikey 03-30-2009 10:24 AM

Not a $70,000 boat.

daveronix199 03-30-2009 10:26 AM

we are leaning towards the X star or the 230 because of location of dealers being 20 minutes in either direction.. We are family friends with the mastercraft dealer but we didnt like how the x-star drives like a tank... that being said the 230's wake was alot different from a mastercarft... thanks for your all of your help it seems to me that alot of people are a real big fan of both so whatever our family decides it cant be a bad choice! Thanks alot

02wakesettervlx 03-30-2009 10:26 AM

X Star

05mobiuslsv 03-30-2009 10:26 AM

You could easily narrow down your choices if you decided you didn't want above the floor ballast, whether it be bags or hard tanks. I would never have above the floor stock ballast again I hate it.

polarbill 03-30-2009 10:28 AM

I have never thought the Xstar handled bad. I have been up to Radar Lake and had the xstar loaded down and it handles fine around the islands.

sidekicknicholas 03-30-2009 10:29 AM

230

aarond0083 03-30-2009 11:02 AM

WakeMikey seems to have a vendetta against anyone looking at new boats. Seen it in a few threads now.

I think it's great that parents buy wake boats. I'm sure his parents enjoy the lake and boating too so what is the big deal? And whether people like it or not, these wake boats weren't made just for core wake boarders. They also make great family boats and the family that can afford and wants a nice boat I say more power to them.

xaggie 03-30-2009 11:26 AM

Star...heheh

innov8 03-30-2009 11:52 AM

230

psudy 03-30-2009 11:59 AM

Jealoucy is a crappy way to go through life, wakemikey. What if his dad posted the question. Would you flame him for buying a nice boat for his family?

wakeborder5 03-30-2009 11:59 AM

WhineyMike, go somewhere else. There's no reason to flame him, he's not acting spoiled or anything, jusy asking for advice and justification for the purchase his family is soon going to make. Be glad his family is supporting the industry in these tough times

drknute3 03-30-2009 12:24 PM

WakeMikey,

Op says parents and I looking to upgrade. How does that equate to dad buying a new boat for son? Could easily be a 50/50 or something. Sheesh!

calexan 03-30-2009 12:49 PM

230 then VLX then X-star and I own a Bu.

But of course its a 23LSV so id pick that over the 230

michaelspsp 03-30-2009 1:20 PM

x-star handles fine at speed. dump the tanks before docking tho...... it does not like to turn weighted at docking speed... i mean my gf who never drove a boat before pulls me no problem and she is 5 foot 3. i wouldnt let her dock it tho....and she wouldnt want to

wakemikey 03-30-2009 2:27 PM

sorry I will stay out of the thread

michridr69 03-30-2009 2:27 PM

mikey is mad becasue hes not gettin a new boat

jon_a 03-30-2009 3:50 PM

All great boats for sure. I personally would pick the Supra.

smith86 03-30-2009 6:24 PM

hey ive had a supra 24ssv and now a 22.
ive ridden behind a bunch of boats but only owned supra. the 22 is the best of both worlds 15 passenger instead of 16 on the 24. and way better handling, and the wake is awesome. and for the money you cant go wrong with supra. i would suggest make sure you get the big motor and the right prop

johnsvt 03-30-2009 6:42 PM

Test drive they are all good and will fit everyone differently...

nosebleed 03-30-2009 6:57 PM

none because they don't have a head

blind_pete 03-30-2009 7:00 PM

230 then VLx and i own a VLX

ryan11 03-30-2009 7:23 PM

x star is the badddddest boat out there. everybody knows it.

jonyb 03-30-2009 7:39 PM

Supra shouldn't even be in the same category with those boats. The reason I say that is because the cost of a Supra is a WHOLE lot cheaper..... Nautiques and X-Stars are at least $10K to $20k higher.

tx03gt 03-30-2009 7:52 PM

X-Star

lakemiltonwake08 03-30-2009 7:59 PM

X-Star is hands down one of the greatest wakes out there. But I feel like there is more to a boat than just the wake. Mastercraft is getting passed up in innovation and new features. I feel like the Nautiques have alot more to offer inside of the boat, and it's wakes are still on the same par as Mastercraft.

johnny_defacto 03-30-2009 11:52 PM

230.

smith86 03-31-2009 3:10 PM

yea i agree with john when it comes to the money.
and like someone else said test drive all the different makes you can and decide on the one that fits your likes and needs the best.(i mean this is wake boarding one of the funest sports ever) pic one and enjoy it.

freshtracks 03-31-2009 3:33 PM

sorry wes but the chaparral is the most EXTREME boat on the water........

freshtracks 03-31-2009 3:34 PM

btw.... 230.... F-ING sick boat!

eyekahn 04-01-2009 6:13 AM

A 230 with 4000lbs in ballast does not chine lock, it drives like there is no weight in it. Get it.

nauti4life 04-01-2009 8:56 AM

Does the engine make a difference? PCM has won JD powers 4 yrs in a row. Indmar is in all the other boats. I think the motor makes a big difference. $.02

aarond0083 04-01-2009 9:38 AM

The PCM ZR6 is the best inboard engine by a mile. So powerful, yet efficient at the same time.

guido 04-01-2009 10:17 AM

IMO..... The current X-star is the best boat every made. They drive awesome, handle a ton of weight, make great wakes and look sick.

What else could you want. I'm pretty partial to the picklefork, too. It adds a bunch of extra room in the nose of the boat. Great for chillen.

ironj32 04-01-2009 10:37 AM

X-Star

kickflip_mj 04-01-2009 11:30 AM

so i take it my VLX sucks??

duckguy 04-01-2009 11:45 AM

No the carpet just doesnt come out, thus allowing moisture to sit and rot away the non formed-in cushion bases.

05mobiuslsv 04-01-2009 11:48 AM

^^^^LOL, and that's why you're looking into getting one right...

kickflip_mj 04-01-2009 11:49 AM

oh i get what you are saying... i like the interior and i do let my carpet dry after every day... i could see though for someone who likes to hose out there boats which is becoming more and more common for some reason

duckguy 04-01-2009 11:55 AM

Just a joke guys-lighten up!

05mobiuslsv 04-01-2009 12:06 PM

OOOps it is April fools.

duckguy 04-01-2009 12:47 PM

yupper!

dizzyj 04-01-2009 12:55 PM

I was torn between a 230 (236) and an xstar. What decided for me was a)price, b)seating arrangment (I love the rear facing seats) c)narrowish "nautique" wake and d) high freeboard for surfing.

all in all I think its the best overall boat out there. Maybe an xstar has a 1-2% "better" wakeboarding wake but all the other comforts were better with the 236, edging out the xstar.

kickflip_mj 04-01-2009 2:13 PM

oh crap it is april first..... oops got to pay the rent.lol
