Hey I was just wondering who is out there that wake surfs behind a mastercraft x-star.

How do you weight the boat for wakesurfing??

Any pics??

bbking 07-29-2007 7:57 AM

check out wakesurfing section... or maybe the boat section i dunno

taylormade 07-29-2007 9:20 AM

The "new" x star or the old xstar? If its the new one, this question has been asked and answered in the wakesurf section. Search there. If it's the old hull, just weigh the heck out of either corner.

The MC dealer in Vegas told me the surf wake sucks on it. Either the sales manager is very honest or very stupid.

i heard wakesurfing should only be done in the ocean Seriously how is wakesurfing any fun? it looks like its pretty boring once you get it down,

try it without the swim platform, Its so big its hard to get the full surf potential out of the boat! Otherwise just load down the one side and you should be ok there isn't much too it. the more weight the better.

I have an x-star too and I have noticed and heard that the stock ballast is way to far forward. I've been told to just load the rear locker. Let me know if u have success

gdillyfunk69 08-04-2007 12:13 AM

alright well we went out today, and my pump switch is broken for the center ballast, so it is stuck full. Anyways, for the starbord side of the boat, I filled that sides stock ballast, and put a 350 pound fat sac in the locker, along with one person on the back corner of the sundeck (and the full center tank, the wake was absoloutly perfect...... BIG AND CLEAN... best wakesurf wake I have ever ridden!!

I did the same weighting setup for the port side, just switch the fatsac over, and filled that sides stock ballast!!

I am very happy with the wake!!

DO NOT BE FOOLED BY PEOPLE WHO SAY THE NEW X-STARS CAN'T THROW WAKESURF WAKES!!!!

I just got back from Lake chelan and while i was there I called my guy Trevor from MC seattle and got some advice from him. I had 6 sacs, totaling at 3400lbs on the starboard side. The biggest advice he gave me was really weight the front, i had 2 280's (one on bow one in the center on ground) with a 600 (on the starboard seat) in the bow on starboard side, a 280 under the dash, another 280 behind the drivers seat and a 280 in the rear locker. The wake was MASSIVE, i really liked it, the pocket was really big too. But it is really a hassel to fill up all the sacs and empty then. But definetly worth it. Also, you really have to watch the bow, we took water over 2 or 3 times.

themxercr85 08-13-2007 2:31 PM

Oh and to add to that weight i had 4 people, and the KGB and Starboard ballast tanks filled

Surfin my buds 02 xstar. He was dumping center ballast the entire time so we could make it to the trailer before nightfall!

themxercr85 08-13-2007 7:06 PM

port side is a lot better then starboard

tyboarder03 08-13-2007 8:06 PM

Ok so does anybody anywhere have any pics of the 04 and newer Xstar surf wake. Heard nothing but bad things about it and have yet to see a pic anywhere to show me otherwise.

themxercr85 08-14-2007 12:55 AM

I have an 07, just like I said, You have to weight the whole side, not just the rear, lots in front too. But evenly throughout the side

tmills 08-14-2007 10:23 AM

I have an 05 Xstar. I weight the port side with the internal port and center ballast. Then I add 2X 500lb (flyhigh v drive sacks) on the port side locker. And finally an 800lb sack on the port side seats. (I usually only have 3 adults on the boat, so I don't have any other weight. ) It throws a great wake..

mofreestyle 08-15-2007 5:44 AM

Try this one. You dont have to have that much weight. Do a search for "how is my wake" there are some xstar surf info there.

(Message edited by mofreestyle on August 15, 2007)

(Message edited by mofreestyle on August 15, 2007)
