- - Any news/rumors for '07 Malibu changes? (http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=334741)

summerobsession 06-12-2006 2:57 PM

I've been looking at a 247 bu. I have an '06 Tige` 24V, but the 247 may take me over to the dark side. Haha. Actually the Malibu dealer is 5 hours closer, and a really nice guy.
Anyway, I'm guessing since the 247 is a newer model, there probably won't be any major changes for '07 but colors, etc.
Has anyone heard any news?
Also, for those that already have a 247, would you opt for the 8.1L or the base hammerhead 400hp, and why?
I boat at 2800' above sea level, so more power is always good.
Thanks in advance for non-brand bashing replies!!

You will be blown away at the new boats that are on tap....

John- I have the 8.1L in my 247, when prop-erly prop-ped it is awesome. I would go that way again, with the 8.1 again. I haven't run it enough to get a very accurate breakdown of gph used. I live at 6400' above sea level, so I can relate to the more is better regarding power. I am also interested in the new stuff, but will be sticking with my 247 for a few years. Darn.

buguru, how about some details on what's new??

buguru 06-14-2006 7:29 PM

Master Sgt. Now wouldnt you like to know.... Lets just say that there are some great ideas comming out.

mimafour 06-14-2006 8:36 PM

it is malibu's 25th anniversary. i am sure they will not disappoint on such an anniversary. i think buy 2010 they will buy out mastercraft. one way to eliminate competion is to buy them out.

greenpinky 06-15-2006 5:08 AM

I was over on Planet Nautique and someone mentioned 'Bu has a picklefork coming out next year. Is there any truth to this?

massattitude 06-15-2006 5:53 AM

Metalflake is in, Kind of looks like a Bass Boat.

jarrod 06-15-2006 7:10 AM

"i think buy 2010 they will buy out mastercraft."

.....that's funny. Just becuase they sell more boats, that doesn't mean they are making more money.

Also, Malibu just redesigned the VLX in 05, and the LSV in 04. The 247 in new also, so I would count on seeing anything new for a while outside of accessories and graphics.

festivus 06-15-2006 9:56 AM

J-rod- that seems logical, but it is a fierce market, so I bet we see something new or different. Maybe a gadget...

auto 06-15-2006 10:07 AM

I think an 07 is in my future

pierce_bronkite 06-15-2006 11:27 AM

I heard they were coming out with a new color scheme, black and red.

buguru 06-15-2006 11:34 AM

No metal flake. New models hmmm.. I will keep ya guessing on that...

Shane.. looking at a 07??

25th annv. edition is going to be a limted quanity...

mcsammamish 06-15-2006 11:58 AM

J-Rod, so if their making more money on lower volume, then their prices are???

auto 06-15-2006 1:22 PM

I heard from a friend (who most Malibu owners aren't on speaking terms with anymore) that just got out of touring the Tennessee factory that Malibu has a center-console fishing boat (a la Mastercraft) and a 20-foot V-drive in the works.

ralph 06-16-2006 2:08 PM

Yes, V-drive response is what I heard

cbrown 06-16-2006 8:05 PM

Jeff,

They have had a center console fishing boat for quite a while. It was a response lxi with the engine under the center console and steering helm. It was built for someone who works, never saw it in action only pictures.

malibuboarder75 06-17-2006 5:56 AM

They also have a 20ft V-drive. I just toured the factory yesterday. I think maybe the 20ft V-drive is the response V-drive you are talking about Darren.

summerobsession 06-19-2006 8:57 AM

Leo: I thought you hated Malibu, yet you're touring the factory? j/k

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I just want a heads up on what's coming, if there are supply issues, I don't want to be left out in the cold.
vlxray 06-20-2006 6:16 PM

I've heard rumours of a mini VLX. A 20 footer to compete with the X-2 and the new crop of smaller wake boats.

_jason_ 06-20-2006 6:45 PM

Supposidly there is a "VTX" which is the smaller "mini version" of the vlx.. i guess we will see..

live2wakeboard 06-20-2006 10:25 PM

New graphics and new interior. I heard that it was off the hook im really excited to see it. I would love to get a 247. I have a VLX but 247 is a lot of boat.

wakeman21 06-21-2006 12:01 PM

i also heard that the new 2007 "VTX" is the smaller 20ft v-drive. also i heard that the response lxi will have a corvette z06 engine with a monstrous 505hp

curtisco24 06-21-2006 5:13 PM

20 ft v drive and a limited edition response lxi

summerobsession 06-22-2006 8:58 AM

Any details on changes for the 247?
Can't wait to see new graphics, I sure hope they are truly new and don't follow some trend started by other boat builders.
Someone mentioned new interior. For all models or just a few?
I'm probably gonna place an order the day after my dealer can order an '07.
Thanks
