spicychalupa69 11-29-2007 1:01 PM

Alright guys, so the NJ guys have one and theres more of these out there. We Minnesotans need a thread of our own now. A thread to share our long winter projects, winter sports and activities and when the time comes, share our wakeboarding pics, advice and perhaps videos! We're the land of 10,000 lakes so lets rub it in everyone else's faces! I'll start...

I have a 97' Malibu Sunsetter LX, lookin to upgrade to a Vdrive soon! I'm from woodbury so when in the cities, i trailer to Lake Elmo mostly and sometimes cross the boarder to WI and board at Bass Lake. I do a lot of boarding around here but also go up to Cross Lake to my buddy's Cabin and rip behind his 06 X-Star! Ill get some pics n stuff up soon when i get them on my laptop!

nick_in_ssp 11-29-2007 1:43 PM

I ride in the North East Metro depending on the wind. Got a '97 VLX and I am looking to put a semi-automated ballast in it this early spring. A few other things here and there but can't wait for next summer. Also got a new set up with the Cells And a Byerly 56". Only 5-6 months before I can get it out. Yippy

spicychalupa69 11-29-2007 1:45 PM

Yeah nick, tell me bout it, i got the Cells and Covin, brand new, sitting here in my damn room, and cant use them till next spring! gonna be a long winter....

snowboardcorey 11-29-2007 2:27 PM

Finally picking up a truck tomorrow so I will finally have a tow rig. Last year I had access to an X-Star and almost no way to tow it to the lake. Beyond that just dreaming about days when the lakes don't have ice on them.

snowboardcorey 11-29-2007 2:30 PM

Oh yeah, I need to pick up some new bindings before the season starts. After three seasons mine are delaming at the heels, it's hard to give them up though because they were the first bindings I ever had that really fit my feet well.

mnwakerider 11-29-2007 2:31 PM

Thanks for painting that beautiful image for us Corey...

Anyways, I am going to be working on doing some new decal/gel work on my boat this winter, and overall just cleaning it up. Wish I had the room for ballast to be hidden.

And as always its going to be a long winter, its Minnesnowda!

wakesurf12 11-29-2007 2:37 PM

Eder, does your sunsetter have a monster tower on it? You ever see a slammed yellow SAN210 on Elmo? That is usually us.

spicychalupa69 11-29-2007 3:08 PM

Hey ryan i have DEFINITELY seen you out there tons of times man! Nice to put a boat to a face...you know what i mean. I dont have a monster tower, but i have a Black tower on mine, i think its a joystick. Have the Chrome Fluid Audio speakers on it and black racks. Im out at Elmo a ton during weekdays since its not to busy but run over to Bass on weekends. Ive seen you SAN out there and a few buddies and i have noted some sick riding from it! Hopefully next season we can all ride together sometime it would be a blas!

As for my winter projects, im upgraded y decals to Wakesetter decals so now i just want to get some Chrome Racks. Lookin at some Lucky devil racks. And besides that just some small replacements like plugs and impeller on the engine. This all wont happen if i run by a 'too good to miss' deal during boat show season on a V-drive!

megatmoe 11-29-2007 9:05 PM

I just picked up my first wakeboard boat! 2006 Supra Launch 20SSV! I live in west Bloomington so I probably be out on Prior Lake and Bryant the most. Any of you guys spend any time on those lakes?

andy_nintzel 11-30-2007 5:42 AM

Big ups my home town, my territory, my state!
If you can drink the tap water and breathe the air say shhhhhhhh........

Minnesota is the •••••••••••• at least for 5 months it aint half bad. Ha!

We should put together a Minnesota Ride Day, just get all out rides out on a lake take over a bay and shred! Bald Eagle in White Boy Lake would be perfect, nice long shoreline that we can easily take over. Its not frozen yet whats every body doing tomorrow? Just kidding.

I just love how stoked everyone in this state is! So happy do hang out the boat and ride!

Nic in the TC I totaly forgot about your new ride! I think I will be on a new Star next summer! Should be epic.

csswake3 11-30-2007 6:53 AM

Moe, I'm from Shakopee and sometimes ride on prior, if you ever see a Black and Red Malibu stop by

spicychalupa69 11-30-2007 7:30 AM

Hey Andy, i totally agree! We should def set up a Minnesota Ride Day, that would be sick and all us Minnesota WWers could chill and hang out and ride! Im totally down for that, lets plan it for...um..next year... haha but yes, i do love this state, only when its warm or luke warm since i dont snowmobile, fish, and snowboarding destroys my body haha! Ima stick to hockey and more of it i suppose to keep me busy

snowboardcorey 11-30-2007 8:32 AM

Not trying to threadjack but since this is a MN thread Midwest MasterCraft is having a video premier for Push Process next Friday.

I'm gonna miss it, have to go out of town for a wedding but it should be good fun.

Count me in for a MN ride day, but be warned the last time I rode Bald Eagle I ended up heading the hospital for stiches! Wait, maybe I only need to warn myself on that one.

spicychalupa69 11-30-2007 10:02 AM

Corey, any more info on the Premier? Id love to attend!

mnwakerider 11-30-2007 10:09 AM

It would be really sick to get a good day out on the water with everyone. I know when I see even a weekend warrior out riding behind a fishing boat I get excited about it.

Here is the info on the premier -

spicychalupa69 11-30-2007 11:25 AM

Cool, thank _JB, ima try and take work off so i can go! I need to score me some clothing apparel!!

ironj32 11-30-2007 12:24 PM

Good to see another MN thread! I went out to take my last run of the season this past Saturday...drove to a few lakes, but all of the docks were yanked from the launches...so I guess the 2007 season is truly over with. It's so depressing to look out my window and see all of the ice that formed the past 4 days

I'm livin' on Medicine Lake in Plymouth right now. Got a 2000 XStar. I plan on upgrading all of the ballast bags to the Pro X Series models this winter. Also, I plan on plumbing in a 4th automatic ballast pump for the front sac that is under the seats in the bow.

ironj32 11-30-2007 12:25 PM

oh yeah...another project of mine is to pay off my credit card the hosted all of my summer fun. anyone wanna help with that???

lil_braswell 11-30-2007 12:49 PM

Ha, Jay I wish I could help you there, but I am still paying off my move to AZ. The scene down here is pretty dope, but nothing compares the days after work on Medicine, Bryant and Riley. The midwest is definitely where it is at... at least in the summer. If anyone can hook up a boat near Scottsdale I have a place you can crash. - Ry

wakescene 11-30-2007 12:57 PM

Well done Eder!

nick_in_ssp 11-30-2007 2:07 PM

So do we just come to Mid West MC to watch or do you need a ticket or something?

mnwakerider 11-30-2007 2:13 PM

No tickets or anything like - just come by some good deals and a first look at Push Process.

Doors open at 7:00
Show starts at 8:00

Spread the word, FREE SHOW!
See you guys there

megatmoe 11-30-2007 4:56 PM

I will be there for sure!

spicychalupa69 11-30-2007 9:30 PM

_JB, im gonna for sure try and be there! i dont know for sure if ill be able to, depends on work...the ice arena and this time of year im hella busy! but i would love to come....like i said, i need me some discounted wake related clothing! And it would be kickass to meet some of you

nick_in_ssp 11-30-2007 9:42 PM

A new X-Star on Bald Eagle, that would be nice. Anthony, I've been down to Bryant before, nice little lake if the wind is right.

spicychalupa69 11-30-2007 9:50 PM

Hey Nick, Member we talked on the phone bout the Sunsetter a while back? Im still wanting to check out your VLX next season...maybe get a pull behind it to compare wakes , that thing looked sick, so fricken clean!! got any pics of her in minnesota waters? id love to check em out!

wakesurf12 11-30-2007 9:50 PM

New Xstar on Bald Eagle where?!?!?!

nick_in_ssp 11-30-2007 9:59 PM

Eder it is pretty clean but needs a little stuff here and there had it on the water about 5 times is all but seemed like everything was pretty solid. I plan on putting a semi-auto ballast in to have around 3 g's of water. We will have to get out early next season and I've never been on Elmo but would love to check it out some time.

nick_in_ssp 11-30-2007 10:01 PM

Oh, new X-Star that's what Andy said up a few lines and Eder, great thread. Should keep me motivated through the whole winter.

wakesurf12 11-30-2007 10:03 PM

Ahh yes, he was talking about a new boat next season. Can't beat his old ride though. Pretty sick wake if you ask me.

spicychalupa69 11-30-2007 10:08 PM

For sure a great thread Nick, we needed something of our own now dont you think? Like you said, keep us motivated through these excruciating winters! Elmo is small but a great lake if its not busy, perhaps Ryan can vouche for that. But ill have to show you my crew's secret spot next season if you want man. its close, bout a 30 min drive, not even. Lets just say, there was only 3 fishing boats on this premium lake on the 4th of july weekend this year! All butter to ourselves! We should for sure ride together next season...in my boat at least, the more the merrier!

csswake3 12-01-2007 8:31 AM

Anybody ever ride in the South Metro?? I don't live on a lake so I usually ride on Riley in Eden Prairie, minnetonka(when I want to get up really early to beat the traffic on the lake), Xmas lake and sometimes Prior....as for what I will be doing this winter, pretty much just snowboarding here in Duluth, we are suppose to get 12-16 inches of snow this weekend! The rest of the winter I just plan on playing Halo 3 and Call of Duty til my fingers fall off, but I definitely miss the lake already

mnwakerider 12-01-2007 8:37 AM

MK,
you gotta check out SKATE! For me it is right up there with Halo 3. Doesnt have the online aspect, but still a really sick game. - Sorry my nerdyness is over

csswake3 12-01-2007 8:47 AM

I did play the demo, it does look really sweet, Right now I am stuck on Call Of Duty 4, its just too much fun, but the demo of Skate did seem pretty sick.

spicychalupa69 12-01-2007 10:35 AM

Call Of Duty is sick! I was addicted to it hardcore but i cut back a ton after my psych prof mentioned in lecture that a video game/tv addict's brainwaves are very similar to those of a cocaine addict haha kinda freaked me out! On another note..
MK, i have been to Riley once, never ridden there though and Minnetonka...we only go there for the big weekends and the get togethers and parties...seems almost impossible to ever find good water. We hit up the St. Croix every once in a while, but im not familiar with the river very well so i always have trouble finding good water there so i tend to stick to smaller lakes. Been to white bear a few times and have had trouble finding good water there. i think we stuck to south shore on white bear on a busy saturday and it wasnt too bad, but still a pain!

mnwakerider 12-01-2007 10:57 AM

I rock oput on the St. Croix. You can usually find great water. Weekdays are by far the best - Kinda wierd note, Riding is against the law on weekends after 12:00 Just as a heads up. Eder, if you are ever out there let me know, I grew up in Stillwater and know that river like my hand - sometimes too well...

csswake3 12-01-2007 11:01 AM

I have definitely never ridden on a river, sounds like it would be pretty sweet though

snowboardcorey 12-01-2007 11:02 AM

Snow, snow, snow I wish I was at a hill instead of at work.

spicychalupa69 12-01-2007 11:02 AM

_JB, ima have to take you up on that for sure. I wanna get to know the river better but like rookies, i only know the dike and beer can island surrounding area . Boarded randomly and always struggled on that river. For sure lets hit it up together next season, my boat or yours..or both!!

mnwakerider 12-01-2007 11:05 AM

Corey, quit bitching, just think of the company you have!
Eder, for sure man, beer can and other down south are fun as hell to party at, but for actual riding you gotta come up north a little bit.
Too bad we cant plan something for 4-5 months!

spicychalupa69 12-01-2007 9:54 PM

Hey guys, how bout the damn snowfall today eh?! Everyone make it home alright?!?! Anyone get stuck or have any cool stories!? I do... I work at an ice arena, in Woodbury, and we have an Air Dome field house. Today, with the snow, apparently we didnt have the pressure and heat high enough (so the snow would melt off of it onto the ground) and unexpectedly when i was cleaning at closing time tonight, tons of snow slid down on the outside and created a pocket and made a huge 'dimple' on it. So now theres about 2 tons of snow on the field house roof and and the west end of it is dimpled in and its about 10 feet from the ground so we had to cancel all times for tomorrow and we're gonna get fire trucks and city crew's to help us clean up the mess! I HATE first snow falls! Always such a pain, something always happens, i wish i would have taken a picture, i will tomorrow if its still there when i get to work at 2!

andy_nintzel 12-01-2007 10:42 PM

Remember wakeboards make the freaking best sleds on earth. Super fast nothing to hold on to, freaking perfect!

ferral 12-01-2007 11:39 PM

Anybody ride on Forest Lake? I'm probably moving to MN within the next 18 to 24 months and thinking about that area.

hawkeye7708 12-02-2007 5:24 AM

Livin in Wisconsin now, but i've spent i'm out ridin on White Bear Lake when I've been in town during the summer. Good Stuff! Eder, over here in Green Bay, we get the leftovers of what you guys get. We got the same storm last night. That laid down some beefy snow! cars were slidin' everywhere. Makes me glad to have 4 wheel drive. How many inches you guys get over there?

andy_nintzel 12-02-2007 10:24 AM

Lou, I live in WBL lake and Have an X-star there its about 10 minutes from FL. FL is not a bad lake to ride in except that its a huge circle so there is really no place to go hide on busy days the lake gets pretty played out by other boaters.

ferral 12-02-2007 11:00 AM

Andy, that's sorta what I've heard about WBL, that it just gets crazy on the weekends and you can't find good water. Are you saying that's not really true? We've already pretty much ruled out WBL for that reason (well, that and pricing).

What about Green Lake slightly farther north, or Prior Lake? PL seems pretty expensive too, and GL may be too far out in the stix for my wife.

By the way, when I say expensive, its because I really want to go for lake front property. I love the idea of walking out the backdoor and just hopping in the boat and going.

csswake3 12-02-2007 11:10 AM

Lou, I live in Shakopee and ride on Prior sometimes in the summer, Prior might be kinda spendy, It's a great lake though, another option if you are looking in that area is Spring Lake, however it might be a little too shallow, I have never ridden on Spring, but it is a lot quieter than Prior, more fishermen and that sort of thing. Prior is a great lake though, If you can find the right house and the right price its a great place

nick_in_ssp 12-02-2007 11:32 AM

All the lakes I go to get busy at about 1 pm on the weekends. Not many lakes have restrictions so it's sunrise to an hour after sunset for riding, and by law you don't have to wear a jacket. Just threw that in there because I think it is a very stupid law. I am always out there from like 8 or 9 to 1 or 2 in the afternoon, usually not that busy. I've never been on White Bear Lake and only live about a mile from it nor do I ever plan to go on White Bear. Tons of lakes to chose from in the North East Metro if you go a little farther north, like only 15 minutes. And you would most likely be the only boat on it besides a couple of fisherman. Great time to be buying a house in the Twin Cities right now because it is a huge buyers market, lots of forclosures.

csswake3 12-02-2007 11:38 AM

Nick, you are right on, if you are on the water at about 8am its pretty much always glass, I do the same thing, usually off the lake by 1 or 2, just isnt worth it to me, but late afternoons sometimes can be some pretty good riding as well

cyclonesurfer 12-02-2007 1:56 PM

I live in Eden Prairie and ride at lake riley or lake minnetonka

megatmoe 12-02-2007 2:12 PM

Brian, where is lake riley? I live in west Bloomington right on the border of Eden Prairie.

csswake3 12-02-2007 4:36 PM

I ride on Riley all the time, Riley is right next to Bearpath if you know where that is, it is right off of Pioneer Trail.

megatmoe 12-02-2007 5:28 PM

hmmm I know bearpath. If I go 169 to Pioneer Trail and head west will I run into Riley?

csswake3 12-02-2007 6:28 PM

well its kinda hidden from the road, if you are coming west on pioneer trail you would take a left onto I think its called riley lake road? but if you get to bearpath you have gone to far, the road literally separates the end of the golf course and the lake

liquidforce567 12-02-2007 8:30 PM

yeah if your leaving eden prairie you take a right onto riley lake road. If your coming into it you take a left. The launch is on your left not to far in. I live in Eden Prairie but ride on Christmas lake, anyone ever ridden out there?

andy_nintzel 12-02-2007 8:57 PM

Lou, doesnt matter where you live in MN unless its up north the best water and really the only water is early in the morning. Unless its a week day.

I ride on Bald Eagle its rad usually at any time, the wind is never really a factor. What I ment about Forset lake is that its like a big round circle so boat waves travel forever. Theres no small bay to ride on.

the best water is out of town up north, on our seceret spots.

csswake3 12-02-2007 9:00 PM

Mitch, I ride on Xmas, it's a great lake cause it stays so warm into the fall, and its clean all summer long compared to some other lakes, I see you have a v ride, I have a vlx, I have seen a few other malibu's out there a couple times

will5150 12-03-2007 9:02 AM

Hey Brian ( Cyclonesurfer) are you the guys that own that Black Cyclone on Riley? I am out there all of the time- Green Tige- We live across the street in Settler's Ridge. If you're the guy- let's hook up and ride together next year. IronJ32 rides with me from time to time and LilBraswell used to - those guys can seriously rip. E-mail me and we'll make it happen- that's an awesome Cyclone too.

will5150 12-03-2007 9:06 AM

MK- What color is your VLX? I've seen a couple new ones out on Riley this past year. We need to get a Riley crew together. I get out there two to three times a week.

cyclonesurfer 12-03-2007 9:38 AM

Will- I know there is a black cyclone that lives on Riley but that isnt mine. I didnt ride there a ton this year I was on Minnetonka a lot. I do have a black cyclone but I trailer it to both lakes.

csswake3 12-03-2007 10:48 AM

will5150, I have a red and black VLX, I have definitely seen you out there boarding and surfing....

mads0113 12-03-2007 11:26 AM

will5150 - I was checking out your profile and see that you work for Medtronic. I work for MDT at Sullivan Lake. There are a few of us over here that go riding on Owasso during lunch breaks. We will have to hook up next summer.

mnwakerider 12-03-2007 11:32 AM

Riding during lunch breaks! I wish I could pull that off...

mads0113 12-03-2007 11:53 AM

We only usually get one set in a piece between the three of us. We try not to abuse it too much. The way I figure, I can focus on work more effectively after I get my fix. So it is a win win for everyone. ha

spicychalupa69 12-03-2007 11:54 AM

Hey Bryan, that is an insanely SICK boat you got! Tell you one thing...i have a vision of the perfect boat, and one just like yours is what always comes to mind! Congrats on that baby! boy...im droooolingggg

snowboardcorey 12-03-2007 12:02 PM

Medtronic guys do you know Tim Mercil? He works in IT (I forget what location) and rides lake Owasso.

The first set behind his new boat was on Owasso last summer, now that was a good day.

liquidforce567 12-03-2007 4:00 PM

yeah MK christmas is perfect the most boats ive ever seen out there is four. Its perfect temp and so clean. How often do you ride out there?

csswake3 12-03-2007 4:06 PM

last summer I think we went like 3 times, I usually ride at Lake Riley in E.P., but xmas is awesome.

ironj32 12-03-2007 4:59 PM

does anyone know if there are any decent lakes to ride on in the New Brighton area? i'm looking at moving in the next few months and need to be close to a lake. i wish our apartment complex would let us use boat lifts! i will definitely miss living on a lake.

nick_in_ssp 12-03-2007 6:11 PM

I just got some '07 Cell's today and all I can saw is, WOW. Edar I can't wait to try these things out. You havn't got to try yours out yet have you? Can't wait.

spicychalupa69 12-03-2007 7:45 PM

Hey nick, they are sweet looking online but in person, the cells kill it!!! No i havent been able to try them yet man! Ive tried them on and had them heat molded, thats as close as i have gotten. The cells are unbelievably comfortable, even more so than my 07 3DS'. Gonna go boarding down south here in december, jan or march for sure! Ill let you know Nick, there should be a good crew of us going, maybe you'd wanna tag along with us, it'll be a hell of a time!

liquidforce567 12-03-2007 8:29 PM

MK are you from EP?

csswake3 12-03-2007 8:48 PM

no I live in Shakopee, so it's like a 10 minute drive to Riley from my house, and I don't live on a lake

spicychalupa69 12-03-2007 8:52 PM

Hey guys, i know Andy Nintzel mentioned it above, but i am completely down for a MN rider's day next season. Lets try to make it as statewide as we possibly can. Plan it a few months in advance and meet like in the St. Croix or something. Of course. water way ideas are totally welcome, i just threw out the St. Croix cuz its so big and we could get tons of people to hopefully come with wakeboards and wakeboats. maybe we can even setup some sort of sweet tourney!

_JB, you're over at midwest right? You think that they would sponsor such an event next season?

cpetersen 12-03-2007 10:05 PM

damn as soon as i move from mpls i find out theres a ton of riders up there. thinking about moving back next year, anybody who will need a 3rd or such let me know. i know its a long ways away but, i wont have a boat once i move back so i'll have to get on here and see whats up

spicychalupa69 12-03-2007 10:10 PM

Cary, hit me up whenever the lakes thaw if you're around!

mads0113 12-04-2007 6:52 AM

Eder, thanks for the complement on the boat! You are more than welcome to come riding anytime next summer.

andy_nintzel 12-04-2007 7:24 AM

Eder, I can get the house board shop to sponsor it, and probably O'brien wakeboards as well.

I am actually planning on having a crew come in from Cali next summer to come film here, fun to include that crew of riders too. Alex Scagliotti, Aj Racinelli, Robby Carter, and hopefully a few more riders.

We should try and put something together for mid July, Nice and hot! Plus we will all have our wakeboard legs back by then! I will keep working on it.

I think a Lake would be better than the river, it gets crazy out there.

Medtronic Crew any of you guys work for my Pops? Scott Nintzel? He has been there for like 30 years or something crazy, started back when there we like 100 employees or something.

(Message edited by andy nintzel on December 04, 2007)

wakesurf12 12-04-2007 8:03 AM

Andy, where did you go last night? 7:24am? Thats unpossible!

p.s. I am down to rip it any time!

(Message edited by wakesurf12 on December 04, 2007)

will5150 12-04-2007 8:09 AM

Hey Bryan- going over lunch would be very cool or any time for that matter. Andy- I'm a Sales Director for the Diabetes division of Medtronic. My division is actually based in Northridge, CA- but I travel A LOT- so being here in the cities works great.
