That sounds awful. If I am really out to get after it I will drink pedialyte (lite?) before I go to sleep. Every essential vitamin and mineral plus some extra.

The headache part of a hangover is due to dehydration. Easiest way to prevent this is to drink water as you are having your alcoholic drinks. Haven't had a headache in the morning for years since I started doing this.

A buddy of mine swears by this stuff. He came to the lake with us over the 4th of July weekend this summer and brought some with him. That was the first time i'd ever heard about it. He ended up talking me into giving it a try before we hit the water for the day. After a full day of drinking we went back to the house for dinner and i took some more before hitting a local bar out on the lake til around 1:00am or so... I woke up pretty early the next morning feeling like a million bucks (which is pretty rare if I drank quite a bit the night before).. not hungover at all. I haven't tried it since that night, but based on my one experience with it I would say it works. I'm usually pretty worthless the entire day after a night of heavy drinking, but I was up at 9 and ready to pull the boat out of the water and clean it up that morning.

+1 for pedialyte

... and no shame in making yourself puke before too.... flush all the bad out, then chug the good

sidekicknicholas 09-27-2011 7:57 PM

... my thoughts is that the charcoal should work by soaking up the booze so your body doesn't.... like a booze filter

val_cal 09-27-2011 7:57 PM

Try a iv bag worked great for me.

ttrigo 09-27-2011 9:00 PM

Pedialyte or water is basically the same thing as an iv drip. Most of us dont have access to an iv drip, unless the drunken night puts you in the hospital, where a drip might be necessary!

Let us know the results. Hangovers hurt worse than they used to.

buffalow 09-28-2011 8:36 AM

I normally just leave my liver in my bed waiting for me when I go out.

And cornbread and ice tea took the place of pills and ninety proof..

wazzy 09-28-2011 10:01 AM

I have used Chasers... might as well skip the pills & just drink the water every hour

And I have used Drinking Mate... seems to work pretty good & only have to take it after drinking, not during....

You could try drinking less. You are getting old....er. I gave guys IVs, they thought it worked pretty well.

wakeboardertj 09-28-2011 5:16 PM

Make friends with nursing/medic students and order a few bags of .9% saline, hangover gone in 15 minutes :D. They jump at the chance to practice IV needle insertion.

boooooo.

jerasu98 09-29-2011 8:51 AM

haha. it's a boy - you must have been drinking when i told you. I didn't know you were younger then me. See what drinking does.

hatepain 09-29-2011 1:29 PM

It works but one needs to take a pill or two every few drinks. They also use it in ER's for drug overdoses.

plhorn 09-29-2011 3:06 PM

If it filters the booze then why not drink water its cheaper. I want to feel the booze.

calexan 09-29-2011 5:46 PM

Drink better liquor.... when i downgrade thats when the hangover happens.

hatepain 09-29-2011 8:30 PM

Cheaper liquor has a higher content of fusel alcohol which tends to cause worse hangovers than does the higher end stuff with greater levels of ethanol.

jarrod 09-30-2011 7:57 AM

My favorite hangover cure is coconut water. Whole foods and Trader Joe's carry a cold processed brand.

I drink only fine tequila, and I don't seem to be exempt from hangovers.

Avoiding Hangovers

Take it after you're done drinking with some water before you go to bed. It works great for hangover prevention.

Even better, before you start drinking take liposomal glutathione, liposomal vitamin c and/or N-acetyl cysteine to boost your body's glutathione levels.

Glutathione fights off the acetaldehyde that gets created during the process of breaking down the alcohol. This acetaldehyde is what causes the hangover. Boost your glutathione levels and you'll never get a hangover!

Holy thread revival! I have heard that Charcoal is hard on you btw.

Redheadd 03-18-2015 8:53 AM

I've drank pedialite before seemed to work good still experimenting with it.

colorider 03-18-2015 10:18 AM

I take a product called RU21. Get it on Amazon. Have used it for years. I'm 46 and can party like a rockstar on weekends. The stuff works VERY well.
