Water and Air Temp

I live in south georgia and just wondering if anyone was having heat like we are..We went out monday and the water temp was 95 degrees and the air was 101 and it was miserable.

global warming?

hawkeye7708 06-16-2010 6:15 AM

Ugh. Up here in Wisconsin... we've been in a heating slump... water dropped from 90 degrees down to 65. EEK!

chaser 06-16-2010 6:30 AM

Where in Wisco was the water ever 90 degrees except in a heated swimming pool? :) We ride the Wisco river and a flowage and the water at one point was up to about 75, then it dropped to like 69 with the cold and rain we have been having. No clue where it's at now, but heading out tonight for the first time in a week.

That does not even sound fun.

I will take your heat! Just hit 80 on June 13th in Central Oregon and now it was snowing last night! Our summers are short enough as it is.

We start riding in just boardshorts in april here but having it hot early you pay the price in the middle of summer...the only thing to save you is the Bimini top on the boat or if you drive deep in the water since it is about 30 ft. deep its cooler there but no telling what you will find down there!

Glenn I ride in Alabama on Lake Martin and we typically ride year round... I feel you though on the heat. We were riding this past weekend and the water was around 95-96 and the heat index was around 110... Usually you can hop in the water and cool off but the water actually feels like hot bath water so it makes it miserable to be in.

Rode yesterday evening in TN. We had some storms roll through and after that the air temp was mid 70's, water around 85. Before the storm, when I was mowing the grass, it was 103 with the heat index.

But that's the South for you.

I feel ya man! Its so Nauseating (sp) to shred that Im sick of the heat already and cant wait for Fall!! (no pun intended) Yesterday was 101 air temp and 93 degree water at the East Coast Wake Park in NC.

You are twice the 100 degree rule for riding in the winter
For the record in Detroit we are about 150 combined

Maddog10 06-16-2010 9:32 PM

On Kentucky Lake we are having air temps in the mid 90's with a water temp of about 84. Wouldn't mind a little cooler water temp but it's not bad at all.

chasenm 06-16-2010 11:26 PM

Out here in New Mexico water temp at the lake I go to was 65 this past weekend with an air temp of 96. Just a month ago the water was 50 with air temp of 70-80.

Here in Dallas we had a cold winter. So the water didnt warm up till May. However with temps near 100 for the last 3 weeks and no rain the water isnt as refreshing, but not bath water yet

chaser 06-17-2010 6:28 AM

74 air and 73 water last night......refreshing.

wakereviews 06-17-2010 6:33 AM

we had 80 and 80 last night and that seems just about perfect to me.
