Where do you find water that is 95 degrees. as of 7am West coast 9.24% of 119 people have ridden in 95 degree water. Lake Mead doesn't even get that warm. Where is this there bathtub?

behindtheboat 05-11-2007 7:47 AM

Small lakes in Orlando

malibuboarder75 05-11-2007 7:55 AM

It gets around 90 in Louisiana and Texas.

In Central Fl it gets 92-93 in August.
Not a big refresher to jump in after mowing the grass etc.

Maumelle River in Arkansas can easily hit 90. It's sweet, the water just feels softer when it's that warm--unfortunately, it's not exactly refreshing...

I find if a lake is dirty, it heats up faster. And of course the more shallow the lake the hotter it can get. I was on a lake a couple summers ago that was 100 according to perfect pass which reads nearly three feet down. The lake was very dirty, small, and only about 12 feet deep. Oh, and it was 114 degrees that day. Needless to say, it sucked. It felt like a hot tub. The water was so soft that it was very hard to get any pop. We didn't stay long.

Up here in the Great White North (Alberta) the ice has just come off the lakes and the water is just over freezing, we don't see much over 70*F, even in the heat of mid summer....

stephan 05-11-2007 1:44 PM

I've ridden in 96 degree water in the Clermont chain in Florida. I've also had it get up to 92 in Lake Havasu. It was like 1pm in August, 122 degree air & no wind.

Texas rider here. We ride by a dam in 60 foot water. In August I love to dive down about 10-15 feet and stay as long as my lungs will allow, the water is cool and so damn refreshing down there. Now, the surface water is like a tepid bath, not so refreshing..

I have seen 101 on my boat's water temp gauge! it was in a shallow part of a river. plus it was over a 100 outside for 45 days in a row that summer! gotta love texas

ogopogo 05-11-2007 2:51 PM

Up here in the great white..... Hot okanagan the water temp will reach 75 to 78 degree. Went last night with just a shorty...

Have you guys ever done bucket diving? Its where you put a bucket on your head and have a friend stand on it, if you get 3-4 people doing it you can get pretty deep, a chain of bucket wearing people standing on each others heads...good times. Just don't stay under too long, the oxygen gets depleted pretty quick.

rio_sanger 05-11-2007 6:09 PM

95 water mid august in baja ...not real refreshing, but air can be 120, so I guess it's all relative

wakedv 05-12-2007 4:55 PM

Ryan D, what was the water last night?

ryan27r 05-12-2007 7:26 PM

Beg heavy yea we have done that 5 people and the bottom guy got to the bottom. And yes you don't have much air in there.

aces6692 05-12-2007 7:58 PM

my friend has a lake house and her lake is only about 6 ft deep, easily gets up to 85

gimp990 05-12-2007 8:01 PM

eagle lake in mississippi gets that hot in late august

closedtoe 05-12-2007 8:57 PM

I thought when people say that the water is soft when its warm they mean it doesn't sting as much as cold water when you fall, I didn't think the water actually got softer.

wakeslife 05-12-2007 9:17 PM

I wear a wetsuit top year-round. It just doesn't seem right to me when I hear that the water is 'too' hot in places.

wakedv 05-12-2007 11:20 PM

Ryan D, what was the water temperature last night?

ogopogo 05-12-2007 11:41 PM

Richard, The top 2 feet or so are prob around 17c. rode today with out a wetty, just a heater top. We are looking at 27c for the next 3 days so it will warm up very fast.
