First off, I am definitely no expert on Double-ups <BR> <BR>I was out boarding this morning teaching a friend how to drive doubles for me better, especially since it was a cheap 18 ft boston whaler with a tiny wake that i was desperately wanting to beef up, so double up it was. <BR> <BR>anyway, we started thinking that if you slow the boat down to about 15mph or even less where you PLAN to come back around and hit that the end result would be bigger.... 'cause, you know the wake is bigger when you go slow like that. of course the boat speeds back up as it circles around to cross and make the double-up. <BR> <BR>we tried it about 3 times and it "seemed" to work better... but maybe that was more because i hit them better or that my friend was getting better and better at driving the D-ups (which he was). <BR> <BR>So has anyone tried this? maybe this is more common then i think? or maybe it actually makes for bad double-ups really?

first off, I ride behind an 18ft Sea Ray but yeah man, when my friend drives doubleups sometimes he thinks its funny to slow way down to create the biggest rollers ever to double up on, what this in turn does, is makes the wake (or peaks) extremely steep, ive yet to hit one successfully, because they really buck you, but when I do im sure ill be flyin haha

Thats how we drive our upple dubs...depending. When you have a heavily weighted boat its not as important but yah it helps. If your heavily weighted and the boat takes a bit to come on plane it might be even harder to drive. Usually ours are dog legged so we make a left or right, slow down, then come back around. The drawback is it beats the shizz out of your boat since unlike a triple up your probably driving through that massive roller too. You can also try triple ups and massive re-entries off the dub or trip.

may be a dumb question, but whats a triple up

Tripple up would be turning the boat the opposite way to to create a bigger roller with more volume, so that when you come back across it, there s more meat to it, much like slowing down mentioned above.

drive a tripple up and do the slowing down technique. QUADRUPLE UP FTW
