Orlando Rider Adkison Advances – Looks to Win Second Straight Wake Games at Home Sunday

Orlando, FL – Andrew Adkison moved one day closer to winning his second straight Air Nautique Wake Games today in Orlando, but the repeat would be even more special as he's riding his hometown. Adkison scored a 84.5 in his quarterfinal heat finishing second, but that was good enough to gain a ticket to Sunday's action at the Orlando Watersports complex. The Wake Games, presented by RGX Body Spray powered by Right Guard, is the first event of the 2007 season.

The last time Adkison took to the water in Orlando for a pro event was 2005. He had just won a world championship the previous fall, on top of the wakeboarding world and competing in his home town. It's déjà vu all over again as Adkison is coming off another world championship (won last September in Ft. Worth, TX), but this time he's looking for a better result. Last time around he finished a disappointing ninth. His performance today puts him in position to make this déjà vu experience end differently.

"Andrew is one of the deadliest competitors on the water," said Matt Hickman, editor of Wake Boarding magazine. "He can pull toeside 900s, heelside 720s and many other technical moves consistently. If he can put together some nice hits on the rails, he has a great chance for his second straight win."

One major threat to Adkison was eliminated even before the pros rode. Orlando native Danny Harf, the defending Pro Tour champion, pulled out of the Wake Games due to a injured ankle.

http://www.kingofwake.com/article.jsp?ID=49208

(Message edited by phantom5815 on April 28, 2007)

Last years jr men (rookies) doing well.
Adam E and Austin Hair advanced to Sunday
Albert, Danny T and Bryon Hutton made it through Thursday but not Saturday. Albert will be riding Jr Men on Pro Tour. Not a bad representaion for rookie class.
