Is there a web site that categorizes wakeboards like 3 stage rocker, hybrid, and continuous rocker without clicking on each wakeboard?

I am in the process of buying a new wakeboard and I really don't know what I want. I have ridden both continuous and 3-stage rockers and I want a board that is between the two. Can someone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks

Sounds like you want a hybrid, or something with blended rails/deck.

what boards have a hybrid rocker?

wakerider111 06-16-2009 8:24 PM

The Truest Hybrid rocker out there is the Hyperlite Murray (2008 or 2009)but i have not tried it

but anything that says "progressive 3 stage" or "subtle 3 stage" or "hybrid..." will put you in that category. stay away from boards that mention purely "continuous" or "three stage" and especially ones that say "aggressive 3 stage"

If speed is the main feature of continuous you are looking for then you might try the Obrien boards that feature the "Delta Base" design such as the Decade, Natural, and others. i have not ridden these boards myself but everyone i have heard who has swears by the delta base and its ability to speed a board up.

Boards featuring flex would be something to try. the rocker line changes due to the flex and in a way makes them a bit of a hybrid, but more or less just completely different. there are "hybrid" rocker lines in this category such as the slingshot Reflex 2009.

one of the few "hybrid" rockers i have tried and also liked was the LF Lyman. i'd put that on your list to consider too

LIQUID FORCE WITNESS! thats what you want.....trust me!

I also have the Lyman and absoluely love it. Great pop, explosive, but not un predictable, smooth landings and super loose but then locks you in on edge. I didn't realize the last two as much till I rode a one this past weekend and really got to compare it against a different board, don't get to ride a lot of variety where I live. I've got a 145 murray coming this week I hope, so I can let you know how that feels as well. You can't go wrong with a lyman imo tho

thanks for all the great info

I have decided to get the LF witness. I weigh 180 lbs and I was debating between the 140 and 144. What size should I get and is there much of a difference between the two.

Good choice with the witness. I would say at 180 you could ride either one but I would pick the 144. I weigh 145 and ride the 140 so you could easily ride the 44 by that logic.

145 lbs on a 140.. u must like em big

gunnertom4593 06-18-2009 10:23 AM

Well I didn't used to. Started on a 133 covin. Then a Watson 134. Then I started riding a shane ltd 136 on the cable. I had some recommendations about bigger boards so I tried out the 140 as well as the 36 witness. Liked the 140 way better. It was faster feeling, bigger pop with softer landings. So I guess you could say I like bigger boards now.

Buy the 140... 144 is way to big at 180lbs

wake2wake_66 06-18-2009 10:38 AM

The Ronix Mana is another sick hybrid board

tom_paz 06-19-2009 9:27 PM

the 144 is NOT too big and a bigger board will help you learn quicker with more surface area. You will be more stable and ride higher in the water. im 170 riding a 143.

sideburns101 06-20-2009 1:35 PM

I went ahead and got the witness 140. Now its the waiting game for it to arrive.

Also going to need some new bindings. My other board and bindings, both CWB, broke within a week of each other. So I am looking for some open toe bindings that are comfortable and wont break in a year.

The Faction should also be on the list. I have ridden both Continuous and 3 stage and it is somewhere in between. Nice pop, but it also carries nice speed into the wake and lands smoothly.
