so i really wanna build a floating rail this year. something simple like an up flat. I already have the barrels to float it. Anyone have any ideas or pictures of their rail?
thanks

.....also check out my sale in the classifieds titled "Possible trades" (<==shameless self-promotion)

(Message edited by bzager on May 12, 2009)

Might be easier to do it close to shore and just pound the legs into the dirt. A little more stable.

There are 8" I-Beams under the barrels to provide stability. On Each end there is a trailer hand winch, with steel cable and 100 pound anchors. It is as stable as anything you would put in to the ground

Way more complex than you described.. but only took 4-5 guys 3 or 4 weekends to build.
The full build with video of the launch here:
http://www.alwake.com/Projects.html

Was that the rail that has been used at SPF in years past?
|
Luker, how much did it cost for all the materials in that rail?
|
Ya they used it at SPF a few years back...someone thought they would be cool and tipped it over one year. I think i had about $300 invested in it. We had the barrells all ready, and some other parts. So wasnt to expensive.
|
damn, luker. that is so sick. where is that?

My buddy just built this and sent me the pic. Can't wait to go visit him! 12" wide 20 ft flatbar.

here was ours. it was our first attempt so it was pretty jenky and we only made it one trex wide which was a mistake. It is approximately 50 feet, and definitely needed 10 to 20 more feet to it.

(Message edited by lfxstar on May 16, 2009)
